    The D&D Logo

I see arguments like this frequently with respect to management in general, and politics specifically. It assumes that all the other things that the arguer would prefer to be worked on are being ignored to the exclusion of something to which they assign a lesser value.

Help me build the worst characters ever conceived for a drunken one-shot adventure

a bard ventriloquist with a dummy - the catch being that the dummy is "Awakened" and the ventriloquist is actually a polymorphed housecat.

    The D&D Logo

I don't know about you, but if I have a book in front of me at the table, it's probably open. I like the 3E logo, but I really like the way 4E's "D&D" looks.

Do you enjoy The Lord of the Rings?

Can't give you XP, but I definitely think that the scouring of the shire and Grima's escape to the west is excellent, and it really does set it apart from those happy-ending-right-after-climax stories.

Do you enjoy The Lord of the Rings?

Look to the literature of the time that gets taught today as "good" literature. Writers like Faulkner, Joyce, and Wolfe. The pacing of those "literary" novels is more in line with Tolkien than the pulps were, for sure. Consider the narrative structure of the novels written before and in the...

The Walking Dead 2.11 - Judge, Jury, Executioner (spoilers)

I wondered about that Kzach, but haven't rewatched the first season. I do remember reading something about it being more than just head wounds, though. It included things like broken necks or even internal brain hemorrhaging. I think most of this speculation for the show is because that's how...

    John Carter

I plan on seeing it tomorrow. Like you, I'm a huge fan of the book. I own and have read all of its sequels, too. And since it's in the public domain now, I have several versions spread out across my Nook, Kindle, and netbook. What I've seen of the previews makes me cautiously optimistic. I'm...

The Walking Dead 2.11 - Judge, Jury, Executioner (spoilers)

And the messages that get emailed don't discriminate any of the spoiler tags. But that's okay. There was a study fairly recently about whether spoilers actually spoil anything, the findings indicated that, in general, they do not. Anyway, I think the title is a triple entendre. The Walking...

    The D&D Logo

Well, it is the art director. That's kind of his job, no?

    Terra Nova Cancelled

I suppose your objective standard just doesn't line up with what I consider to be my objective standard. I think the writing for the shows I listed was smart. I think the direction for them was well-done. I think the acting was all pretty top-notch, and I think the production was excellent...

    Terra Nova Cancelled

I suppose that is fair, but it was a very well-done show (better than the original film) and got the shaft for financial reasons. Fox killed it, and its move to SciFi was just extended death throes. Yes, in retrospect. Not at the time, though. I liked it very much. It was one of the better scifi...

    Terra Nova Cancelled

And disliking a show doesn't make it bad, either, so ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐. Are you some kind of arbiter of what is good or bad for all of humanity? Did I miss a memo where your personal opinions of a show somehow rate more merit than mine or anyone else's? I disagree with your assessments 100%...

Target 20 as new to-hit mechanic?

I'm obvously not KarinsDad, but it's got to be totally different playstyles. Combat like you describe "I hit him for 12" is just about the most boring way of playing I've ever heard of. I wouldn't play long in a group like that.

    The D&D Logo

This discussion is going on here: http://www.enworld.org/forum/new-horizons-upcoming-edition-d-d/318703-d-d-next-weekly-art-column-14.html Jon Schindehette even stepped into the conversation a bit as well.

Target 20 as new to-hit mechanic?

I don't really agree with that. My daughter is 7. Every once in awhile we'll have a basic D&D room fight. She rolls a d20 and then adds in the attack modifier for her character and tells me the total. To make it a learning game for her, I tell her the AC of what she is attacking. She compares...

    If D&D didn't exist

Without D&D (but assuming a still robust RPG industry minus the TSR influence), I think I'd be playing "The Price of Freedom." Still ranks among my favorite games.

    Terra Nova Cancelled

I disagree with this vehemently. Alien Nation, Sliders, The Lone Gunmen, Dark Angel, Firefly, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Futurama -- just to name a few of my favorites (most of which Fox abandoned to crappy tv nights--the Friday night death slot is less stereotype and more complete fact--and...

Do you enjoy The Lord of the Rings?

I like it. Every word, every page. I honestly wouldn't change a thing about it.

    Elemental playing cards?

It wouldn't be hard to make up a deck of cards using the Avatar: The Last Airbender symbols. I'll have a go at it tomorrow.

    Gas Mask?

It was a sequence of rather improbable events, but the dice rolled our way that night. That said, the DM did have a planned city in the center of the plane, not far from where the portal from Atlantis dropped the whole party. We had been under the effects of a water breathing spell, as we were...
