Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

Hey Sagiro, How is novel 2 coming along? Anxiously awaiting it...not the least of which is so I can get an updated map! Would you mind commenting on a few of the locations in the early parts of the story hour and how they fit into the overall story arc? 1. The location beneath Goghan's shop...

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

Finished the novel Sagiro, I posted a 4 star review on amazon.com - just waiting for it to show up. In the meantime here it is: The Ventifact Collossus is an ambitious story by author Dorian Hart consisting of a large cast of protagonists, numerous supporting characters, and an ever...

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

*standing ovation* I just finished the Story Hour. There are so many things I would like to say, but I really don't know where to start without repeating what has been said before. I think the only new bit I can add is this: the story (plot) elements in your Story Hour are on par or surpass...

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

Sagiro, Have you ever listed the gods from the Charagan and Kivian pantheons anywhere? I know that some of the gods have been expanded upon by you throughout the story hour, but would you mind providing a brief list along with their portfolios?

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

I do remember that. However the PCs went through a number of Ways after that. Just curious if the latter part was mapped too. Doesn't sound like it tho... Very cool! I'm glad you have already considered that!

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

Hey Sagiro, Two things as I make my way through your story. First, Did you ever map out the Slices of Het Branoi? I'd be fascinated to see it. Second, I would like to suggest that you add maps to your second novel of both continents. I am of the opinion it helps readers to understand your...

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

A few more questions Sagiro. Did you guys use minis or was it theatre of the mind? At times, there were an awful lot of NPCs - both good and bad - in some encounters. Were the good NPCs played by you or did the players control them during combat? Basically how did you keep combat moving at a...

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

Sagiro, Thanks for the quick response! I'm aware that the book has some noticeable differences and fully understand the reasons for the change. Assuming those changes were made by you, I'm sure the novelization will be just as entertaining! ;) I really would love to see whatever maps you...

Sagiro's Story Hour: Now That It's Over

What a story! Sagiro, Hi! So... I just recently started reading your story hour. I've been on EnWorld for some time but don't tend to read Story Hours. Noticing that the story was finished, I decided to give it a try due to the heavy praise it has received. It wasn't long before I was hooked...

D&D 5E Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

That 20 Int also makes him a master debater. ;)

D&D 5E Do you like the simplicity of 5E monsters?

With Chris Perkins behind the monsters (IIRC), I was expecting each monster to be a bit more unique than what was given. I expected more and still want more and as the system ages I think monsters will become a bit more complex. I totally get that less is more and that adding powers and...

    D&D 5E Paladin Over Powered?

Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification. Edit: It's strange. As a group we are comfortable enough with the wizard and the amount of damage he spreads out over his foes. But for some reason when there is a LOT of damage (LOT being subjective :)) on one foe, that seems to raise a red flag.

    D&D 5E Paladin Over Powered?

Agreed. During our playtest, I think the Paladin had too many rests and could keep sacrificing his top spell slots. Additionally, the stats rolled by the Paladin were probably on the higher side (as in well above the average roll) which also increased the numbers a bit.

    D&D 5E Paladin Over Powered?

Can you tell me where you are getting the 100+ damage for the wizard? Unless its an attack roll (which can be maximized on a crit), the multitude of dice rolled for high level spells tend to average out apart from the odd roll. For me, its important that the system can handle few encounters...

    D&D 5E Paladin Over Powered?

Keep in mind a Paladin can crit maximizing the damage. A fireball can't. One of the things we didn't have for playtesting was guidelines on how long the adventuring day was. That may have contributed to the feeling that the Paladin could always dish out some big damage as I tended to keep...

    D&D 5E Paladin Over Powered?

KarinsDad The math makes sense and maybe its not as bad I fear. But once you add other classes to the mix that grant Advantage on attacks, extra damage from other spells, and if its an undead or a fiend, it seems to get pretty high oh so quick! It still leaves me uneasy and something that I...

    D&D 5E Paladin Over Powered?

Giving the paladin the ability to swap spells for increased melee damage seems too much to me (I'm at work and don't have the PH with me so I believe it is called Smite). In our playtest group the paladin was able to dish out some heavy damage and seemed to outdo most of the rest of the group...
