    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Maybe Lifedrinker just adds a third attack and allows you to heal when you attack without adding more dice? I'd be fine with that. I don't know why I like the idea of Warlocks getting a third attack so much. But I do. For whatever reason, I really do.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Ok. I'm really starting to feel like Warlocks are the unwanted redheaded stepchild. The Ranger Article is already up and the live stream isn't even done. Where is the Warlock article?

So what's with the Warlock Article? Wizard and Druid Articles were up immediately. Feeling a bit like the red headed stepchild...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

But...that's what the Cleric is. If you wanna play a panthiest who gets their power from spirits of nature, that's a Druid. If you wanna play an athiest who gets their power from hard work and learning, that's a wizard. If you wanna play someone who gets their power because it's in their...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Here's how I always viewed the different kinds of magic. Wizards learn magic. It's a science to them. A study. They learn when you mix this ingredient with this gesture, that happens. They study their whole lives, learning the science of magic. Anyone can become a Wizard, but only those who...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I briefly played a playtest Goo Warlock with a Blade. Made all my attacks psychic damage. I said the sword isn't actually real, and i'm not actually hitting anyone, but they THINK I am, and so they experience the pain anyway. Very fun.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

John the Baptist had crazy wild hair, lived in the wilderness, ate locusts and honey, dunked people in a river after screaming at them to "Repent", and brazenly spoke against the ruler of the city for sleeping with his brother's wife. Most people tended to give him a wide birth until they...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

He's saying anytime someone sees an angel in the bible their initial response is to freak out. Angels are spooky.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Eldritch Knight can replace an attack with a cantrip. Make that Cantrip Green flame Blade and that's that's another 4d8+5 damage at lvl 13, assuming they have another person nearby. And at lvl 13, they ALSO can cast Spirit Shroud. Plus they get Fighting Styles, more HP, more AC, Action...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

But it's a 3rd lvl spell. The only people with two attacks who will be casting it are Warlocks and Eldritch Knights, and Eldritch Knights get 4 attacks by the end.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I feel like Eldritch Knights with a Melee cantrip can outdamage this Warlock. The new one is beast. They can get Spirit Shroud at lvl 13.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Could you explain for me how they get so much damage compared to other martials?

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

First, you were the one who said people were offended. Second, the reasons they’re giving is “BeCaUsE sPeLlCaStErS bLaGrUfLiGeM”. There is no legit reason to be upset the Warlock gets a third attack. Sure, Spirit Shroud adds some decent damage. But it’s a Concentration Spell that uses one...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

That's assuming that Feat from Tasha's is an option in the new book. I don't like the idea of mixing old Feats with new characters.

D&D General Alternate thought - rule of cool is bad for gaming

I've always seen "the Rule of Coolk" as a means of choosing the direction to go in a particular instance. Like, I introduce a dragon, and my player asks if it's female, and I say yes, and he squeals, cause he's playing a horny bard and has never had the opportunity to seduce a dragon. I role...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Honestly if someone is getting offended at game rules then said someones are taking said game much too seriously.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Warlocks break the rules. That's their whole thing. Their Familiars are better. Their Cantrip is better. They get at will spells at lvl 2 when the Wizard can't do that till lvl 18. They can infiltrate better than a Rogue, Ritual Cast better than a Wizard, and snipe better than a Ranger...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

I liked my Hexblade concept. Only got to play him for three sessions and he died. Basically, he’s a Highlander. Made a pact with a bloodthirsty patron who grants him fighting ability. Every creature he kills, its life force syphoned off to the patron, and the Hexblade gets to keep some...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

That’s a little overblown, and it isn’t like Warlocks are like other casters. Few spell slots, fewer spell options, can’t ups cast past 5th lvl spells, the list goes on. If you’re going to add in other class features, feats, subclasses, and magic items, add in Agonizing Blast, Repelling Blast...
