    D&D 5E What's in YOUR house rule document/collection?

Oh, mine's growing, slowly. There's two new classes: a modified version of the latest UA Ranger, to fix some issues that I had with it, and a Scholar homebrew I worked up from other, less balanced (IMO, anyway), versions. There's five new archetypes: A Shadow Rogue and Wizard, a Law Domain, a...

D&D 5E Sacred Cow Bites The Dust.

I actually did the opposite. I ran my first 5e campaign using milestones--it didn't have the right feeling, and my players commented on it on several occasions. We never used XP during 4e or PF, either, so it was natural to use milestones. It just didn't have the same feel. It just wasn't...D&D...

    D&D 5E Lingering Wounds

I use them. Love them, but I do tweak the times that they come up. After talking to a doctor friend of mine, I settled on the following: * When a creature takes a critical hit, the attacking creature rolls 1d20; on an 11-20, the target takes a lingering injury. * When a creature drops to 0...

D&D 5E Your Biggest Gaming Pet Peeve

Biggest for me: Not caring about the game, both as a DM and a player.

D&D 5E Your one best piece of GM/DM advice?

Plan setting, not plot. Remember that your Setting includes NPCs, monsters, cities, weather patterns, everything.

D&D 5E Why is WoTc still pushing AP's when the majority of gamers want something else?

I'm perfectly happy with how they've put things out.

    D&D 5E Speculation - Potential Future Releases

Well, sign me the :):):):) up! Are you going to put the same amount of work into Waterdeep itself? I've been beginning to wonder if they're going to instead to Tomb of Horrors or one of the other older huge ones.

D&D 5E Level drains, old school adventures and 5e - a proposed alternative?

Your best bet is to look at the Shadow in the Monster Manual. On a successful hit, it does some damage and drains 1d4 Strength, which return when the character take a long rest.

D&D 5E CHALLENGE: Change one thing about 5e

For my games, I don't grant HP after a long rest. You just have to spend hit dice before you take a long rest to heal up, and then, after your long rest, you regain half your current number of hit dice (minimum 1). In addition, death saves do not reset until one takes a long rest; your...

    D&D 5E Speculation - Potential Future Releases

I really want a Waterdeep + Undermountain sandbox. But, not like they've done the past few editions. I want a true, almost obsessively detailed sandbox, with multitudinous sidequests, and an overarching "plot" that the players can interact with as much as they wish.

New Bard Colleges: Arcana and Vigor

Well, I'd first try to figure out what makes the Arcana Bard thematically distinct from the Lore Bard; they do occupy a very, very similar niche as far as thematic space. I've always been a big proponent of "themes" when it comes to 5e, the idea that you have a base class that has a set of...

New Bard Colleges: Arcana and Vigor

Mechanically, I don't see any issues at first glance...I just feel that Arcana is too....generic? I'm not even sure that makes sense. It just doesn't feel unique enough.

    D&D 5E GM Improvisation Aids in 5e

A quick set of tables for generating random cities, as well as many little adventures, sidequests, and dungeons spread throughout the map--also, a detailed hexcrawl-style map. Even the good sandbox settings, like Frog God Games' Sword of Air, don't have all the details put in it, which drives me...

D&D 5E Volo's Guide to Monsters Hobgoblins: You would think there are many cities.

I don't actually use Forgotten Realms anymore...however, my setting has three hobgoblin cities that have all been at nigh-eternal war with one another, and all three have been at nigh-eternal war with the dwarven citadels in "their" mountains. It's...an odd political situation.
