If the question is can the gullible person forgo the hook when the overbearing person bullies them to not follow the hook, then yes I'd allow both to get credit for a weakness if they roleplay it.
If those levels were legitimately earned via previous play and are just being imported into a 2nd Edition campaign I'd just let them be imported as is.
The two easiest ways would be:

The change in pronunciation is just how language changes as it spreads out. At some point, the change just becomes the way most people use it. Otherwise one might as well argue that French people are just people who mispronounce Latin. :p
My wife is very much all about combat and dislikes "roleplaying". I had her prep and run a session from one of the starter sets for me and our children which caused her to have a newfound appreciation for how much more effort it takes to be on the GM side.
