What is best in life... or in gaming?

You're missing the point... Oral sex. Dexerity + Linguistics anyone?

    Strategy or role-playing game?

No, because the physical activity is abstracted at the game table. The physical world game world is divorced from that of the real world. I do not feel this should be the case w/ social skills at my game table because a lack of social skills directly affects my enjoyment.

    Strategy or role-playing game?

The role-playing game table is not an apporiate venue for most physical activities. Therefore, said activities can and should be abstracted in said venue. Furthermore, such a system would significantly limit the enjoyment of physically impaired parties and it is much easier to make the game...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

Are these questions rhetorical? Are you actually interested in my response?

    Strategy or role-playing game?

(Mainly directed at Storm Raven) I should further mention that role-playing (in the broad sense, not limited to gaming) has been a significant, positive, force in my life. When I was in high school, I was a member of our Model United Nations team and I adopted the views and thoughts of...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

I'm a little unsure how to respond here. Suffice to say, I don't need to put up with any problems players in any of my games and I am privileged to game with experienced gamers, all of whom enjoy role-playing. My gaming groups fit me and my boisterous role-playing perfectly. I probably would...

Do recreational drugs feature in your campaign?

I find it interesting that nearily all of the drug rules (esp the BoVD for D&D) have a net-negitive effect on the drug taker. Some of these negitive effects seems significantly over powered.

    Strategy or role-playing game?

(When relating to the focus of role-playing in D&D compared w/ other games) I think you hit the nail on the head there, Lost Soul. The other, regular game I play usually uses the White-Wolf "d10" system. I probably see more role-playing there then in my D&D game in part because the WW system...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

I think you are looking at my statement in the wrong manner, Lost Soul. Li Shenron said: My post was a response that statement. I find it some what weird to think that people involved in the hobby for several years suddenly decided to role-play less, given that the hobby itself is...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

OK, you're going to need to back that one up. Are you saying that mature, experienced role-players have decided to role-play less? That seems pretty ridiculous. If you said that new players, coming into the hobby, are role-playing less than ones more familar with the game, then I could buy it.

Do recreational drugs feature in your campaign?

Sure... Because getting hyper and being on edge if you don't have it every 2 hours makes High Fantasy so much more believable than getting a little hazy, a little sleepy, and having a sudden desire to go to a woodworking class.

Do recreational drugs feature in your campaign?

Interesting bunch of responses. I am surprised at the number of people who answered yes. Personally, I answered "No, but we haven't considered or discussed it," when relating to the D&D group I am in. For the other, Exalted / Adventure / HoL group I plan in, well, drugs are a must in those...

Do recreational drugs feature in your campaign?

    I'm just curious. I can't imagine anyone charging a dragon w/o being a little brain-damaged. Alcohol is a given, I think.

Who would you pick to design Fourth Edition?

Mark Rein-Hagan and Robert Anton Wilson as primary designers And then I would have Grant Morrison and Alan Moore design the magic system

    Strategy or role-playing game?

A good strategy game example might be Warhammer or Mechwarrior. I don't have a huge problem w/ people using the bluff rules for the most part. For one thing, it can help newbies play a character with a dynamic personality w/o knowing exactly how to roleplay (but you have to teach them at the...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

Excellent point, Icy. I wish my DM committed himself to a more "GM fiats" rather than let stuff bog down by looking in the rule book.

    Strategy or role-playing game?

Interestingly, the DM has adapted a 1st edition adventure (Temple of Elemental Evil) for a 3e game. If you are at all familar w/ this adventure, I think you'll recall that just about anything you bump into down there is fair game for your paladin to pummel. Since we have little interaction w/...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

Last night, my DM made the comment that third edition makes D&D a strategy game, so I asked him what it was before 3e, and he said it was a role-playing game. Previous DMs have made similar comments, stating that 3e is designed to be easily functional with computer games. Now, I submit to your...

Would you like to see any of the oWoD rules converted to d20?

I voted "no" because the WoD d10 system is just fine the way it is now. I don't think either my D&D or my White Wolf groups would use a WoD d20 system. Plus, there is a LOT of content in the d10 system. Not just WoD, but also Exalted, Aeon/Trinity, Adventure, Aberrant, Ars Magica, etc, not to...
