    Opportunity and interrupt confusion

At least in my native language, interrupting something is synonimous to aborting it. Even if this is not the case, by saying an OA interrupts and then defining interrupt as something particular to the system is a recipie to disaster as well.

    Shifty v/ CC: Who Wins?

That's exactly what I said. What is not 100% clear is when the Scalegloom appendix says "An opportunity action interrupts the action that triggered it", does "interrupting" mean the action is aborted, or merely that the opportunity attack resolves before the triggering action resolves? In my...

    Opportunity and interrupt confusion

I've been noticing people are confusing trivialities about opportunity and interrupt actions a lot, and its clearly a matter of unclear terminology. From the Scalegloom Appendix, we have this: The parts I've underlined are the real issue. An opportunity action always interrupts the triggering...

    Shifty v/ CC: Who Wins?

I don't see the issue, either. Opportunity actions interrupt the actions that provoked them, immediate actions don't. It's quite clear in the Scalegloom Appendix. Combat challenge allows an immediate action when the kobold shifts, by whatever means. Kobold starts shifting, takes an immediate...

Why do we have ability scores?

That's something new and easy to fix. Just up the base HP by 10 and apply double your ability modifier. Piece of cake. Assuming 4e doesn't have multiple ability modifiers applied to the same stat, which would be the case in 3.x for the monk's AC and the paladin's saves, the solution would be...

    D&D 4E DDXP 4E Rules Appendix

As in Star Wars Saga Edition. Try clicking on them as many times as it gets to enlarge them The Design & Development article hints very strongly towards that, because it says you heal 1/4 your total HP, which is exactly what a Heling Surge does.

    D&D 4E DDXP 4E Rules Appendix

Stabilizing is one use of the Heal skill, and another use might be (I'm extrapolating here) to activate a Healing Surge beyond any Second Wind used. Nevertheless, it is clear that the stabilized character does not have to make more death saving throws and if not damaged any further, will wake up...

D&D 4E My first two 4E house rules

If you want to change the saving throws, why not simply repeat the attack that estabilished the effect in the first place? If a wizard casts sleep on you with 1d20+5 vs. your Will, let's say 14, repeat the attack or invert it to a defense roll: 1d20 +4 (14-10) vs. 15 (10 +5).

    Rethinking Reflex and AC...

It's simple: You're playing a class that you don't want to expend precious points in Dex or Int. You already get a 3 point advantage from light armor, at least. Your low Reflex Defense can be compensated with a shield. And we also know that not only will the fighter eventually learn to use plate...

    Rethinking Reflex and AC...

Its quite clear that cloth is +0, leather +2, hide +3, chainmail +6 (-2 to Acrobatics, Athletics & Stealth), scale +7 (-2 to skills) and plate +8 (-4 to skills). Small size gives no bonuses to hit or AC. Cloth, leather and hide are light armor and allow either Dex or Int to AC; chainmail, scale...

Analysis of Initial release of PCs

Hmm, although the feat only says +1 to saving throws, which have nothing to do with defenses, it IS possible that it ALSO gives +1 to all defenses, or +2 to Will. In fact, I think a mere +1 to saving throws is too small a benefit for a feat, even at 1st level. They probably chose not to repeat a...

To the Designers: May we please have the DDXP errata?

Yeah, it's like an inverted ranged Power Attack: you transfer your damage bonus to the attack roll. BTW, shouldn't the cleric's Will be decreased as well? I figure it should be 15, not 17, for a base +1/+1/+1. It looks like base +1/+1/+3, like the paladin before the errata. Heck, the paladin...

Armor & Coins - please, No.

Dragonborn do NOT wear dragonskin armor. They wear WYRMSCALE armor, which is a masterwork scale armor that IMITATES dragon scales. Its a simple matter of style. Dragonborn are expected to imitate true dragons at every opportunity. This is one of them. Edit: GAH! Satori trampled me over!

Analysis of Initial release of PCs

Exactly. So leather gives +2 to AC, hide +3, chainmail +6, scale +7, and plate +8. Heavy shield gives +2 to AC and Reflexes. The strange part is that most classes get either a base +2 to a single Defense, or +1 to two or three, but the halfling paladin and the human cleric get +1/+1/+3. Seems...

    Powers...am I missing something.

They make it clear in the What You Need to Know document that you usually will not want to make a basic attack unless it is a component to a power.

    Questions for Experience Goers.

My questions: 1. Mike's scoop tells us Healing Surges are standard action per day self-healings. My new questions are: How much is healed? Are there restrictions, like once per encounter? 2. Do wizards still rely on books to prepare spells (between encounters)? 3. What is the Weakened...
