What Might An Urban Kingmaker Look Like?

Play Rebuild 2, a free online game on Kongregate This is the game, or the sequel to the one you're talking about. :) Basically, the reason zombies work is that they aren't an intelligent force. Because they're basically mindless, they act like the environment that needs to be conquered...

What Might An Urban Kingmaker Look Like?

After the zombie apocalypse, the PCs have to fight to take back the city on house at a time. Finding other survivors and rival groups as they explore, slowly extending the built up barricades keeping the threat out.

Does anybody else hate the Point Buy Sell Off?

Disliking the point buy sell-off could be a large factor in someone not using point buy in the first place. I know it's part of the reason I don't use it.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Stealth Skill Playtest

On the Barbarian issues, instead of having rage increase con, they could just have it give temp hp and boost fort saves to what the equivalent amount would be.

    "You can't assume things"

I have had players you thought very odd things were "metagaming" including a caster who felt knowing his spells refreshed each day was metagaming. Lots of my players still have things like treating any reference to AC or HP as metagaming which I have had to work out of them. There's a large...

    Proposed: Adopt a "normal" person

From the linked blog Organizer and leader of the biggest Twilight fanclub and fanfiction group in the world. Nascar superfan who goes to every race and has been featured on the news. Is a furry. Not that these hobbies are objectively bad, just picked three examples that 90% of geeky people...

New Legends & Lore: Player vs. Character

Generally I'd say it comes down to two factors. Ability to model the action and directly conflicting actors. When talking to NPCs we can model the game very closely in real life. Characters say things, NPCs say things, if you had players capable of being 100% in character and a DM 100% in...

Epic Encounters - The Dragon Flight (Crunch Edition)

I think the amount of forewarning would play a huge factor in such a fight. Dragons getting surprise and all using their breath weapon in the surprise round, then probably a party wipe. Party knows they'll fight the dragons and so tailor their spells to fight them, probably a cakewalk.

How much backlash is too much?

Put him on trial. Allow trial by combat. The champion for law is one of the brothers of the paladin he killed, play up the paladin seeking justice angle, I'd make it a tough fight CR wise. Let the dice fall where they will.

New Legends & Lore: Player vs. Character

Do you have a problem with someone playing a fighter in a tactically sound way even though they dumped int and wisdom? Would you require him to pass am int or wis check in order to maneuver just so to avoid taking opportunity attacks and get flanking instead of just charging in?

New Legends & Lore: Player vs. Character

In my experience, this problem is far, far more common when mechanically saying something requires a check. As in the bard with the high diplomacy talks to people and the fighter says nothing he'll fail his check and something bad will happen, or the NPCs will ignore his point despite it being...

New Legends & Lore: Player vs. Character

That point always gets mentioned in this debate, and my view is that if they're so socially lacking they cannot manage to say anything then I don't know if they should be playing D&D.

    The ONE Hit Point World

I'd say the only problem with just implementing a 1 hp system is that there's no shades of gray, you're either fully and completely functioning or unconscious. Now, normal D&D doesn't have a death spiral or wound penalties, but having multiple hp means it was possible to be beaten up but not...

Why is it a bad thing to optimise?

I think generally, problems with optimization come not from the players but from the game. First to prevent boring sameness, there needs to be multiple paths of optimization. Aka, you don't want every single player to be wearing the same armbands that give +2 damage on every hit. Having...

    Should this be fixed

Yeah, I think we need to stop using the term railroading because it absolutely fails at describing what is being talked about. Basically, when the DM assigns objective alignment to acts, you're generally unable to have in character ambiguity about the alignment of those acts. Removing the in...

    Should this be fixed

I was in a pretty similar situation, and I did the same thing, I took a break. Taking a break meant no gaming for almost a year and I definitely regret it. So, is there anybody else who is interested in DMing, if so let them run a short adventure. If not, maybe try a quick adventure in a...

    Should this be fixed

I would strongly suggest for your next game, laying out a social construct for new characters. Go over motivations and personalities and look for potential conflicts, and then talk about what keeps the group together and how those conflicts won't destroy party unity. I can see that helping...

    Should this be fixed

This is a good article everyone should read Giant In the Playground Games The player who wants the GM to include more treasure is probably pissed off about what the other player did but doesn't want to cause drama by going after the dwarf in game or out of game. What you need to do is get...
