As a kid who went through that experience (a few years ago now admittedly), I don't see the issue. What you describe is part of what makes RPGs so fulfilling. Sure, RPGing won't be for everyone, but no hobby is.

I think they are banking on building on the success they have had with their own Conan board game, which has its next KS in 2023 with Red Nails expansion, rather than any new IP coming out. They are also very passionate about the Conan IP so that is likely to be a big factor in their decision.

They have since revised the Conan board game rulebook and its much better. As a 1st time KS creator in 2015, they have learnt lessons.

And as we have seen, Modiphius and Monolith has a good relationship with Modiphius developing tie-ins for Monolith's Conan board game. So I would expect that Modiphius are actually pretty happy to hand the baton on to them.
