D&D 5E High level Conjuration Wizard seems OP...

A build that relies on Wish to cast Conjure X spells is not overpowered. The best way to improve this build is to make sure that your Wizard has plenty of other tricks to pull when conjuring random creatures of limited capability doesn't work out the way you hope it does as often as you hope it...

D&D 5E A Collection of Minor House Rules

Exactly! This is *the* house rule for groups that believe D&D5 is easy mode. Who needs pages of targeted nerfs when this one rule does it all! Sharpshooter and GWM giving you sleepless nights due to their unbridled power? This itty bitty rule pretty much guarantees all on its lonesome that...

D&D 5E What would a 'real' D&D society look like?

Probably something like Order of the Stick.

D&D 5E A Collection of Minor House Rules

PCs and their associated creatures (summonses, familiars, etc) roll d12s instead of d20s to hit or to save. NPCs roll d20s as usual.

D&D 5E Sorcerer Rewrite! [new magic system]

Hi, I haven't looked at this yet, but will. Sorcerer probably does deserve a rewrite. I admit that I'm less of a fan of solutions along the lines of "I cast spells in a different way" compared to something that makes the class itself very different. For example, I don't think the Warlock's...

Point Buy Feats - How could this go wrong?

Hi, It probably won't be too broken. At 4 points, a Feat is valued as 2 points of attributes above 13. To maximize the value, we might expect a character never to boost attributes below 13 using future ASIs. Most spellcasters want a casting stat, Dex and Con to be high, and they rarely need...

D&D 5E To use or not to use feats

Hi, You have convinced me. The problem with D&D5 is that Fighters are way too powerful, especially compared to spellcasters. Something must be done to rein them in, and getting rid of Feats is an excellent beginning. Anyway, Ken

D&D 5E To use or not to use feats

They aren't shooting themselves in the foot because all of this diversity is meh. So it doesn't matter what he chooses. Unless, of course, he chooses to take a class that gets cool abilities instead of rubbish ASIs. A player who wants diversity is obviously better off with Feats. Sure, that...

D&D 5E To use or not to use feats

Many classes care about 3 stats: Wizards (Int/Con/Dex), Paladins (Str/Cha/Con), Sorcerers, Warlocks... but the classes that get more than 5 ASIs care about only 2. They need Feats.

D&D 5E To use or not to use feats

Hi, Fighters only have one main stat and one secondary stat. Str fighters can happily ignore Dex. Dex fighters can happily ignore Str. And they usually do. Both like to have a decent Con but it's secondary. 4 ASIs are plenty to bring both Dex/Str and Con to 20. The other 3 ASIs are a...

    D&D 5E The revival economy

Hi, Or, a world in which diamonds are common enough to support an unexpectedly low cost to raise the dead! The quality can still matter. For divine magic especially, it makes sense that the value of the sacrifice matters. So a tiny gemstone or a sack of industrial-grade diamond dust both can...

    D&D 5E The revival economy

RAW, the spell does not require any amount of diamonds, only a value of diamonds measured in gp. It's the price of *gold* that matters here. If diamonds become more expensive, either because diamonds are in demand or because gold has become plentiful, you need fewer of them (or lower quality)!

    D&D 5E Fixing Eldritch Blast

Hi, A warlock is not a primary caster. He is usually a dealer of single-target damage with a bag of tricks. That damage usually comes from EB. EB is nothing special without Invocations to improve it, but becomes excellent once improved, especially with AB. It still isn't as good at dealing...

D&D 5E To use or not to use feats

Hi, Feats may be optional, but I believe that the game is balanced around assuming they are present. Without feats, rogues and especially fighters take it hard, and are probably never worth playing all the way through. Who needs 6 or 7 ASIs if all you can do with the last few is raise...

D&D 5E How to War Cleric

Hi, You want to be human. You want to be a cleric. You want to smack things with a big hammer. So you're not a dwarf or a paladin or a bladelock. Shields are really good, but not using a shield leaves you an open hand for spellcasting without sucking up a feat. Should you take F1 first...

D&D 5E Great Weapon Mastery - once more into the breach! (with math)

The real problem is that martial classes are way too good compared to spellcasters, and need to be nerfed hard rather than get feats that are better than half-decent.

    D&D 5E Advice on how I should multi-class

I don't see why you wouldn't like staying with Fighter for the third attack at level 11 and the bonus action curved shot at level 7, and the 2 ASIs at levels 6 and 8. With your GM's changes, boosting both Dex and Int to 20 have value. That's 4 ASIs right there. You already have Sharpshooter...

    Ritualist [Wizard School]

Hi, I think it's a great idea, but rather under-powered at level 2 and includes math. *ponders* How about.... Level 2: Master Ritualist - You can copy any ritual from any class into your spellbook, if the level of the ritual is equal to or less than the highest level Wizard spell you can...
