    How "out" are you?

I'm a well hidden gamer. I don't speak about it in public, unless at a gaming store. The people at work know I'm into games, they just equate that with board games and video games. If outright asked, I'd probably not shy from it, but I won't get into detail unless the other person turns out...

    self standing dungeon modules?

Tomb of Abysthor is where it's at. The best module I own. Hands down. The Rappan Athuk series is nice as well, but I think that Webb and Perterson saved their best for Abysthor. It's just that much more polished. However, Rappan Athuk will probably provided a higher level challenge as...

WotC submission ideas you rejected rather than send.

Here's an idea that I had, but rejected because I couldn't figure out how to do it justice: A world whose Evil gods have succeeded in defeating the Good gods. In desperation, the most powerful magicians devised a plan to shift their world to another plane. Unfortunately, their calculations...

    Who likes Ninjas and Pirates?

I don't care how many times I go to that site, I still chuckle at the idiocy. Reason: I grew up with a friend who's younger brother spoke almost exactly like the way that site is written. If I didn't know better, I'd swear that the site was written by him and he was serious. Quite scary...

    Favourite D&D adventure

Oh wow, this is tough to answer. Some of my newer stuff really reads well, but I have yet to play it. Some of my older stuff has lots of nostalgic value, but does that make it really good. grrr... Anyhow... S4 - Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth. A fantastic mini-campaign in 64 pages. Classic...

Guess the Number of WotC New Setting Submissions!

Hey guys, just thought I'd point out that news of this contest has made it to Slashdot. Probably a good time to increase the estimate submission totals by about 30%. I truly pity WoTC staffers. However, this really is a great day for Dungeons and Dragons marketing. :)

What does R2-47 mean to you?

I thought it was a droid in the Owen/Luke/Jawas scene in Ep. IV. The one wearing the pink fedora and platform shoes. If you squint you can barely make him out for a fraction of a second on the left side of the screen.

Guess the Number of WotC New Setting Submissions!

7000 (roughly). Of which less then half will actually be read.

Will you submit a Setting Proposal

I really want to submit a proposal, but I'm waffling. I just think that this is going to work out more like a lottery because of the potentially massive amount of submissions. I simply cannot see them reading, or even skimming, five to ten thousand pages of material in the time frame they've...

WoT RPG - What to do with it.

Thanks Eosin, your site is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Well done.

WoT RPG - What to do with it.

I picked up the WOT RPG yesterday for 1/2 price at a used book store. It was in almost brand new condition and the price was right so I took a chance. Now, I'm not a fan of the series. I read the first two books many years ago and though I liked them, they didn't grab me the same way they did...

    The End

I want to be optimistic about it, but the writing on the web site is incredibly poor and leaves me with a cold feeling about the final product. Unfortunate because the concept sounds decent. However I'll check it out at my FLGS if they stock it, and leave the final decision until then.

Do you use Psionics in your campaign?

I've dabbled with Psionics use in the past, but I didn't make it compelling enough for my players so they didn't use them. My next campaign I plan on ditching traditional DnD magic and in it's place use the psionics rules. I think it'll give the game a neat flavour. I haven't worked out the...

(OT) Hmmm Star Wars II Seen it I have! Continued

Just going to jump in here... Saw the movie this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. Much better than Episode I. The acting was not stellar, but I wasn't expecting anything but action adventure. And while I thought that the action was... not as active as I would've liked, the plot was...

    [ot]Magnamund - Lone Wolf Series

Okay, lots of messages in this thread already and I haven't read them all so if someone has already mentioned this, please let me know. IMHO, the Kai are very much like the Jedi from Star Wars, no? I was thinking that it might be a good idea to look at what has been done in the d20 Star Wars...

Which "must buy" gaming item did you buy, but never use?

The Forgotten Realms 3e book. Looks great but I cannot for the life of me figure out why I bought it. I hated The Realms before and I still do. Marketing 1 : My Brain 0. I'm stupid, I know. The Psionics handbook. I REALLY want to use it. I love the system. To much effort to integrate it...

What's up with the RPGnet boards?

enworld is full of slavering d20 fan-boys: "d20 is the be all and end all of tabletop RPGs." rpg.net is full of slavering RPG fad-boys: "The latest thing, is the greatest thing." rpg.net is also full of "the more obscure the RPG, the better it must be" type of people. Though, when pressed...

Dungeon Mag - Best "one shots?"

Dungeon of the Fire Opal by Johnathan Tweet From Dungeon #84 A dungeon crawl suitable for a party of four, third level characters. Took us about 8 hours from start to finish, though the PCs died right at the end. Lots of challenging situations. Deffinately not a deep adventure. If your...

Guess which game is in the news again?

Anyone here recall the Michael McDermott mass murder in Dec. of 2000? He was an IT employee in Boston who walked into his office one morning and gunned down 7 of his co-workers. Brutal event. Anyhow, he's on trial right now. Pleading insanity. Yadda yadda yadda. Here's a quote from an...

The best adventure nobody's running! What gives?

I was "that other guy" who plugged The Gryphon's Legacy last week. I'm still in the planning stages, but I plan to play it either this weekend or the next. Kantrip is right about this one, it's quite fantastic. The "living castle" idea isn't exactly new, I've done this sort of thing many...
