D&D 5E Warlock Magic Item Christmas Wish list

We wrapped up Out of The Abyss just before starting Curse of Strahd. I don't think I could convince them on that big of a detour for some sweet bling for my Warlock ;) I'm pretty sure I can get the DM to drop a Ring of Spell Storing into a treasure, or at least craft a Pearl of Power, if there...

D&D 5E Warlock Magic Item Christmas Wish list

The Campaign's DM has always been a big fan of randomly rolling treasure, so I think the rarity will be less of a concern than overall powerlevel. Of course this is the same DM that let my level 5 character find a, randomly rolled, +3 Shield and boots of flying, so anything may be fair game...

D&D 5E Warlock Magic Item Christmas Wish list

Thanks, those are some great suggestions. I went with the fiend patron because it makes sense with his back story. His tribe was wiped out by giants, and his martial prowess as a barbarian was useless against the giants. As he layed there bleeding and close to death, he was visited in a vision...

D&D 5E Warlock Magic Item Christmas Wish list

It's really to give the DM ideas for items we want, instead of rolling random items. The DM still decides when it's appropriate for us to get items of those power levels. It also prevents the party from ending up with random magic items no one wants or uses, which is possibly more "realistic"...

D&D 5E Warlock Magic Item Christmas Wish list

I don't think it does what you think it does ;) Is there a 5E magic items that does that, or would I be asking for a custom homebrew item to do so ? The party consists of a Goliath Barbarian, a Gnome Barbarian, a Dwarven Warpriest, a Human Mystic, and my Aarakocra Warlock. He's pretty much...

D&D 5E Warlock Magic Item Christmas Wish list

Starting a new Storm Kings Thunder campaign and the DM wants us to create a wish list of magic items for our characters. I'm playing my first 5E Warlock and I'm looking for suggestions on which items to include on my wishlist. The obvious choices for a Warlock are: Rod of the Pact Keeper...

D&D 5E Curse of Strahd - How Long Start to Finish?

We ran the 5 Adventure League short adventures before wisking them away to Ravenloft. It helped make them more survivable for the Death House. We did have one casualty in the big fight in the basement of the Death House, but the Adeventure League has guidelines for resurrencting characters of...

D&D 5E Pathfinder to 5e: expected power level and low level surivability

The only Pathfinder Adventure Path I've ever run has been Rise of the Rune Lords, but I honestly wouldn't sweat running it as is, using 5E monster stats, and adjusting difficulty numbers down to 5E levels on the fly.

D&D 5E Lost Mines: Map Size Shenannegins

I drew it out on big sheets of cardboard, a few rooms to a sheet, and just changed sections as the players moved through the rooms.

Latest D&D Survey Says "More Feats, Please!"; Plus New Survey About DMs Guild, Monster Hunter, Inqui

My issue with the Medusa's iconic ability is as a PC ability in 5th edition the rules would likely break down into save of 8+ Proficiency + Cha Mod, on a race likely to have a +2 Cha mod. So you would end up with Cha 20 Medusa PC with a DC 15(8+2+5) petrifying gaze attack. On top of that, the...

Latest D&D Survey Says "More Feats, Please!"; Plus New Survey About DMs Guild, Monster Hunter, Inqui

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of what was done in Libris Mortis where the Ghoul/Ghast, Mohrg, Mummy, Vampire Spawn, and Wight were broken down into playable a class like structure. To keep pace with other PCs I'd suggest normal race staples like HD at every level, standard...

Latest D&D Survey Says "More Feats, Please!"; Plus New Survey About DMs Guild, Monster Hunter, Inqui

Those are all monster races that are so powerful most Dungeon Masters would never allow them at the table as PCs. If that's what you are looking for, 3rd Edition had monsters broken down into PC levels and guidelines for how to do it with mosnter races not already covered. Those same...

Latest D&D Survey Says "More Feats, Please!"; Plus New Survey About DMs Guild, Monster Hunter, Inqui

Feats were one the best things about 3rd edition, hindered only by the ridiculous feat trees required to get the good ones, and then the overly specialized ones. Want to make something that functions exactly like a potion, but you eat it like a cookie ? Take the Brew Potion feat, and then at...

ZENDIKAR -- Where Magic: The Gathering and D&D Collide!

I have little to no interest in the MTG setting, but I do love new races, creatures, etc... As a DM I would let players choose from these additional races. The Kor are interesting, the Vampire is well balanced, and I the Goblin race rules are good enough to actually make it worth taking. I'd...

[UPDATED] Green Ronin Finds Religion In D&D 5E's BOOK OF THE RIGHTEOUS

With so few 5E books being published, we can get excited about the few that are. I have a TON of 3E books, but somehow I missed the Book of the Rigtheous. As long as we are hovering in the $30 range, I'm in for the Kickstarter.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] A Blast From the Past: Wizarding 101

D&D 5E 5th edition driving people back to 1st/2nd edition.

I've been reading 1E & 2E stuff for ideas to convert for 5E use, just like I did when I played 3E.

D&D 5E Dwindling Basic Rules Support for WotC/Partnered Adventures

I think the FREE basic rules were a way to reassure people about the quality of the game, before they get invested in buying the books. I don't think it was ever intended as a way for a Dungeon Master to avoid buying the books altogether.
