Fantasy Campaign Setting: What do you want/not want?

Just what would appeal to me. Generic. I want to be able to add adventures or material from my collection with ease. Standard core races (humans, elves, dwarves, halfings, gnomes, half elf and half orc). Dark ages/medieval rather than faux renaissance. Good mix of terrain areas, from arctic...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo: Any plans for more complete AP books?

Yesturday I picked up my copy of the RotRL anniversary book. I'm curious as to whether Paizo is going to be releasing the other APs in this format? Thanks.

Pathfinder 1E Paladin combat is kinda dumb.....

I'm playing a Paladin in a pathfinder campaign at the moment. My first attempt at a Paladin under this system and I'm having some good fun with it. You have to remember that you are playing a melee type with extra abilities. It is difficult for the class to be anything but that, but the class...

    Player not using sheets.

Invest in Herolab from Lone Wolf. It does the job for you and at the start of each session just print out new sheets. Since using this my games have been a doddle to keep track of characters, spells, feats and respective DCs.

How do you like your HP to increase?

As a player I like max at 1st level and then random at each new level. Keeps it interesting. As a GM I do max at 1st, and then either (player's choice) of roll or take 50% of the respective hit dice.

Pathfinder 1E How is the rogue nerfed

The rogue hasn't been nerfed at all. They are just as good as they as they ever were but now they get rogue talents to make them better.

so how often do you go above 10th level?

Under 1st and 2nd edition AD&D we rarely played beyond 9th/10th because we felt that the game broke down balance wise past there. I think the highest we ever went was about 15th. When 3rd ed (and now Pathfinder) came out we felt that that problem wasn't so bad any more and we can happily play...

Pathfinder 1E What's broken or needs vast system knowledge?

I full agree about knowledge checks ruining it for monsters. My players, who are all experienced roleplayers with 20+ years of experience, do exactly this. As soon as a new monster appears they are calling for knowledge checks to learn it's resistences and vulnerabilities, which I think takes...

Pathfinder 1E What's broken or needs vast system knowledge?

    1. Nothing really comes to mind as broken. However, I am finding that pretty much everything outside the core rules has a power creep which can make certain balance issues awkward. 2. Nothing. Pathfinder is no harder to break than D&D 3.X was.

    monster hit points...average?

I give maximum HP for monsters. My group prefer the challenge.

    Monster Inflation

Unless your world is different than most, the standard beasties such as orcs, dragons, ogres, trolls...etc exist. But everything else only exists when it makes an appearence in your game world.

Forced to end movement in illegal space.

You just have to use common sense. If one person falls down a pit and then a second falls or is pushed down, they end up in an uncomfortable heap.

What's the Best System for Running LotR?

I haven't as yet as I currently have enough games to keep me busy. And my wallet would not be happy.

What's the Best System for Running LotR?

It's not something I can easily explain. I find that a given game system may or may not work with the feel of a given setting. For example I have never found Dark Sun to feel right under anything except 2nd ed AD&D. The feel of the setting is just lost under 3.X or Rolemaster (two example...

What's the Best System for Running LotR?

Both. The source material that ICE put out were second to none. I really wish other publishers would look to those sourcebooks for ideas of how to do a regional campaign resource. As for the system it fitted very well. I am the sort of person who thinks that the system needs to fit the...

What's the Best System for Running LotR?

My experience is that ICE's Middle Earth was the best system for playing in Middle Earth. Nothing else has ever quite worked the same way for me.

Big changes a'coming! Merging the D&D forums

I agree with some folks here... it's a nice idea but with five editions of D&D and Pathfinder it will just dilute the forum. I think it would be better to keep it as it currently is. It's much easier to find the topics for the game you want, and topics won't get buried under huge numbers of new...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo's Ultimate Equipment book...

I bought it on a whim as a review I saw claimed it contained a ton of new equipment and magic items. I was also wanting a random treasure generator. In the end it is simply a collection of non-setting specific equipment and magic items. There isn't an awful lot of new material which I was...
