Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That thing where there is only one post on a new thread page and it is by someone you have on ignore, so it just looks like a blank page.

    D&D 5E (2024) Specifying 5e

I know what all of those mean to say, so I don't really care. I think I usually use the year - 2014 D&D vs. 2024 D&D (not even bothering to say 5E half the time), but I can't say I am consistent since everyone I would be talking to about D&D either has the context to know what I mean, or I...

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

I think there is a profound difference between the DM choosing to have enemies flee or surrender versus just narrating or handwaving the conclusion of the battle. The former seems like a normal potential consequence of the in-game fiction the battle represents and the latter is a meta concern...

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

Uh-Oh. The sandbox thread is threatening to take over every conversation on these boards!:rolleyes: ;):ROFLMAO:

Anyone want 44 pages of spells converted to 5e?

I’ve been meaning to thank you @the Jester for these spells. I grabbed and adapted many of these for my Vanity Frankenstein 5e project and you saved me the trouble of having to compile spells to convert from previous editions.

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

I don’t go that far but I do do this. . . The “+10” is upcast aid. “AW” means an abjurer’ arcane ward.

Greater Than Games Shutters Due to Tariffs

Oh great! Now people are gonna take my meeple bumper sticker on my cars as a signal that they can clandestinely slip me some money as part of an elaborate handshake in return for illicit game pieces.

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

I love it. It makes jumping into the next session a lot easier when everyone is focused on a battle, while sessions that begin during downtime or even in the midst of travel or exploration take a little longer to "warm up." In the age of the smartphone, I find it really easy to snap a pic or 2...

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

I do tend to play a serialized style, where we simply take up where we left off last time (and that is frequently mid-battle). Unless I am specifically running a one-shot I don't think in terms of "how much we have to fit in the session." (Not saying you do, but just that I am not thinking about...

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

I just can't imagine bothering to play D&D if I thought the combat was as boring as so many people claim it is. Either that, or I am just that good a DM that my and my players' experiences playing through combat are far beyond what any of those poor unfortunate folks can imagine. :p:ROFLMAO:

D&D General Vanity Frankenstein 5E: My homebrew D&D project [+]

I am still looking for 1 to 2 more folks who are interested in taking part in some one-off playtest sessions. I'll be doing them over Owlbear Rodeo/Discord and have two sessions scheduled so far next Monday, April 28th at 8pm eastern, and Tuesday, May 6, same time. Going to about 10 or 10:30...

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

To be clear, my "yes" was to the question as I understood it, if my group always plays out round by round combats even when combat seems to be a foregone conclusion for the PCs. The answer to this is Yes. Since I know some DMs prefer to handwave this situation and just narrate the results, I...

D&D General Sandbox and/or/vs Linear campaigns

Yep. This is basically how I do it. It could be the same, it could be harder (other monsters moved in, or they've had more of a chance to fortify and set traps, etc), it could be they hear of another party who got wealth and fame from having done it and now it is an empty place. The kind of...

D&D General Sandbox and/or/vs Linear campaigns

I don't try to steer them, but I can't help but sometimes hope they make a specific choice. But do love when I harbor that hope and what they end up choosing to do instead turns out to be better.

D&D General Sandbox and/or/vs Linear campaigns

To me a sandbox means more than "you can do it in any order." Instead, characters having a meaningful in-game influence on the direction of their adventures within limits set by the DM which can be relatively narrow but also potentially global/planar. Yes, you can use pre-published or other...
