    D&D 5E (2024) Do We Really Need Levels 11-20?

I think what would server 5.5E well would be to have a serious discussion about how the game plays differently at different tiers of play. At what level are different abilities or powers taken as a given? At what level should you expect to have flight available for extended periods? How about...

    D&D 5E (2024) Do We Really Need Levels 11-20?

I think that the reason we don't see as many high level campaigns is two-fold: first, people just start games at level one. I've been in a few games that went against the grain but as a rule, you start at the beginning. At most it's level three since that's where you get subclasses. The other...

Kobold Press Announces 'Cozy' RPG Riverbank

Absolutely see that now. I hope this does well, but I'm less interested now. I already have games I could use for this purpose and I think a completely different system will be a harder sell with people who are just starting out in the hobby. But with that said, good luck!

Kobold Press Announces 'Cozy' RPG Riverbank

I think this is a really good idea. Unfortunately I don't think that the core 5E chassis is especially good for this use, but I will be happy to look at what they do with it. I think that WotC wants to move in this direction with D&D itself from the core dungeon bashing experience, so I think...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why are you still playing D&D?

For me, it's why my group wants to play right now. We just finished a Feng Shui game, and one of the GMs wanted to pick up our 5E game, so we're back at it. Before that we played a Daggerheart game. What comes next? Don't know. We aren't using 5.5E and I expect we won't even touch it until we...

D&D 5E (2024) Quotes from the Monster Manual

I don't think that's the point. There is a point about the age level that's appropriate for language. I know that I was reading D&D at age 9 and that would have made the book off limits to me at that age. I am forever grateful that some of the artwork didn't get it banned for me at the time.

    D&D 5E (2014) 2024 D&D is 2014 D&D with 4E sprinkled on top

This is one of those things that are heresy, but I did enjoy the changes to how the Planes and the cosmos were setup in 4E. Feel free to reject my opinions outright on that accord.

    D&D 5E (2014) 2024 D&D is 2014 D&D with 4E sprinkled on top

It's funny that you mention this. It has been a long time since those days, and I guess I do remember rules updates. The thing is, I was regularly playing Living Forgotten Realms in those days, and they used the latest rules all the time. I do remember some rules updates about Stealth, but it...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2024 D&D is 2014 D&D with 4E sprinkled on top

I don't remember any problems with the stealth rules in 4E and I played a Rogue all the way into Epic Tier. I was just looking up the rules and I found this, which explains why I never had an issue: For me, that resolved problems I have in 5E: if you're sneaking, you leave stealth, do your...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2024 D&D is 2014 D&D with 4E sprinkled on top

As a 4E fan, I don't see any significant extra influence on the 5.5 edition, other than the bloodied condition. I don't think the Weapon Masteries are the equivalent of at-wills. I wish this were the case, mind you.

Fabula Ultima Offers A Good Beginning To A Final Fantasy

Oh I love so many things about Break! It is the most beautiful RPG I have ever seen, as well as being the best laid out. I think you watch the Knights of Last Call, but they did an extensive look at it, and ... it looks great. My problem with it is the core mechanic. It's roll-under on a D20...

Fabula Ultima Offers A Good Beginning To A Final Fantasy

The games Fabula Ultima is trying to emulate have a lot of combat to them. The game has very strong rules for combat but is more narrative for other scenes. If combat is something that's not for you, I don't think this will be the game for you. Much like if you don't like combat, JRRPGs aren't...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I think you're making a really good point. When the whole issue dropped, I thought that they could just have done this with D&D Beyond and not had any issues at all. In fact, people would have been happy about it.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

It may be that I have some of these folks on Ignore, which wouldn't surprise me. Even though Story Now isn't really how I do things, I do find it really interesting to discuss, so I'd be happy to do that. And I find that with a lot of other game styles: they may not be for me, but they also end...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I haven't seen too much of this on Enworld. I think there are a lot of people who don't have much experience with other games, and when we start talking about stuff like "The Conversation" it tends to have smaller groups responding. A couple of times when I've been discussing "play to find out"...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I wonder what kind of world building WotC is interested in doing. It will be really interesting to see where this goes and if they can build something new that fits into the game that D&D has become.

    Second person plural pronoun

I am very much not a Southerner, being from Wisconsin, but I have used "all y'all" in spoken conversation, and it works at the right moment. I wouldn't use it in written form unless I was writing fiction. And since I have enough friends from the south, they feel like they can make fun of me for...

  19. SteveC

    Second person plural pronoun

This is in my bailiwick but the thing I am wondering is why you'd need to do this. Perhaps you could give an example of what you'd want to convey with this. Honestly, I wouldn't use any of those options. I'd be glad to help but I'd say that you can be used both in the singular and plural sense...

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

I think you just answered your own question. You don't see this problem in a digital presentation. If I need to drop in a monster for an encounter that I'm creating on the fly, I have an indexed search option that I can use which makes it not an issue. If I'm at a table and need to find...
