Your best bet is to think of what it is you want, and then find a class that fits. "Fighter" is just a class name. Concept before class. If it bothers you that much, erase whatever is on your character sheet and write "Fighter".

All of your powers are implement powers, so implement expertise would be used most often. The only time weapon expertise would be useful is for MBA's. You could always take versatile expertise...

Not necessarily, other classes have weapon attacks that target NAD's. Piercing Strike, for example... and that's on the already super accurate rogue class.

The CB monk is a preview article, not a playtest. It's supposed to be the finalized version. The preview replaced the playtest in January I think. So maybe the one in the phb3 was a last minute change.

Shift, crawl, and stand up are 3 seperate move actions. The only move actions you are allowed while prone are stand up or crawl, not shift.

Didn't read the whole post, so I may be repeating, but DA gives you CA with ranged attacks when your allies are flanking. You aren't your own ally, so no :P

I think the swordmage is as close to a ranged defender as we'll see. They're pretty good at it.

Most of those pre made characters had errors in them. The flavor text attached to that winged horde still described it as targetting many creatures. I'm assuming it was just another error.
