Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

That could be said about a few WotC 5e adventures :'D "well that could be said about any adventure!" some say. There's a difference between enhancing a solid adventure, and filling holes/making work an adventure that needs it to be run properly. Ha, with 5e my concern would be the assumption...

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

I don't like them wearing stuff either... usually. Dragons would probably believe that they're too superior to supplement their glory with magical trinkets... but a few here and there that see the necessity and/or love the jewelry etc. don't go amiss.

I think "fail forward" sometimes is seen as "fail into success," but I think the intent is just to keep momentum going. Falling to pick the lock doesn't mean that theyll automatically find another way through, but it does mean that instead of standing around thinking about what to do next...

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

It can be both. But saying the difference is only cultural throws out the possibility of the difference being what a creature is, intrinsically. It discounts the possibility of genetic memory. Of instincts and knowledge that might be built into a creature like an elf... Depending on how...

D&D General In this day and age, people still laugh when you invite them to play D&D.

Make a date, a time. That's how you'll know if it's actual interest, or "oh yeah maybe sometime someday not really." "We're playing next week, Wednesday at 7p. Oh, can't make it til 7:30? No problem. Hop on in, it'll be fun- no one knows the rules to start out with! We'll just throw some dice...

D&D 5E (2024) Snarf's Complete Two Weapon Fighting and Grappling Guide

Compared to 3.Xe, grappling is simpler.. but why does it seem that two weapon-fighting is somehow more complex? I guess it's just a matter of knowing the rules and how they interact.

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

Your definition of humanocentric seems to be "a human made it." I won't argue over your definition of it- however, it's quite possible to make non-humans seem inhuman. Give them different priorities. Radically different goals. Consider the idea that they don't think like humans; one easy way is...

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

Supporting local store is obviously the move (assuming you LIKE your local store), but Wizkids was regularly having sales of up to 50% off on their own site. They were legit undercutting the low-cost sites and ebay sellers.. and not just on old stuff.

D&D 5E (2024) Rate My Avatar of Bane (Based on ENworlds Feedback).

This could make it extra boss fight-ey: Bane's a lawful evil deity, yeah? Maybe he dictates what triggers his black fist each round. He declares "no weapon of mortal make shall touch Bane!" so dealing damage to him with a weapon that round triggers his super gauntlet reaction. "No spells can be...

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

That's cool. Sort of reminds me of one of the big blue dragon Pathfinder minis. But the big bad of the book is an Adult, not an Ancient? I ran Red Hand of Doom a year or so ago and the lvl 12 party trounced the blue dragon in it, even after I upped it to an ancient (admittedly I ran A5E).

D&D General What makes a TTRPG a "D&D Variant" to you?

Is DCC a DnD variant? It has classes and levels. It uses a d20, but it also uses a ton of weird (zocchi) dice. It has 6 attributes, but they don't fully map to 5e (luck, primarily). I'd like to say yes, but gosh how are we defining DnD variants? Ha, that's what this is all about, eh?

Nothing turns me off of an adventure faster than looking early in on it and NOT seeing a summary. It happens sometimes and I cannot understand it.

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

I'm ignorant of the point you're trying to make. As I said, I was only correcting the suggestions of "kenku have never been bad" and "kenku were enemies in maybe one adventure." Is your point that you can replace enemy "orcs of gruumsh" with "human cultists of orcus" in lots of adventures...

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

That's a pretty solid point. To be fair video games make money by selling options that aren't purely cosmetic as well, but the cosmetic ones get them in less trouble with the game's community (being accused of Pay-to-Win). But I'd be lying if I said I haven't spent a lot of $ on dumb game skins :|

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Review

I think this is a little misleading. They sure do some bad stuff, even if their alignment isn't listed as evil. MM2 Kenku may appear to be friendly, helpful, and even generous. They freely give treasure to humans and demihumans, but it is rarely genuine and crumbles into dust within a day. They...
