I think that's harsh, considering you're just signing up for a free account and you can get the PDFs for stuff like ToV and ToV's Monster Vault.

Since they're so concerned re: making something not backwards-compatible (a whole new edition), maybe it'd be some sort of conversion supplement- "CritRole-ify your game today! Inject Daggerheart narrative rules like a dagger through the heart!"

That's a good point, I think that's just mismatched expectations. It's called Dragon Heist so players expected to be heisting, not to be going after those who were doing the heist. The back-of-the-book text is ambiguous, so I can see either way:

That's asking someone to put their own interpretation on another person's words, and say that's definitely the meaning... People do that all the time, but to demand that he interpret it for you and state it as gospel, when he isn't the one that actually wrote the post, would be presumptuous.

Reminds me of how in the 2000s there were many MMOs with innovative ideas all trying to live alongside WoW, but 4-6 months after the new MMOs release WoW had incorporated those innovations into itself 😆

Ha ya know, it'd be funny and basically impossible in this case, but certain trademarks can be endangered from too much success...

My big hang-up with names is wanting cultural consistency. I could rattle off a dozen made up fantasy names, but I try to use stuff like the Gygax Book of Names to give a more coherent feel to a locale... but it's honestly a PITA so half the time I have to just make something up or google...

I think your definition of prep is a lot wider than most folks', but unless @M.T. Black wants to give us a definition, it's gonna continue to be open to interpretation like that :'D I guess even then, interpretations abound!

OK yeah so how're we defining "no prep" here? It's helpful to know how to run the game. I assume when people say "no prep" they mean "I know how to run DnD, but I want to sit down and start running without spending time beforehand deciding the premise etc."

To me, concept art is even worse than a CGI trailer at telling me what actual gameplay will be like- so I try not to get too hyped by it... Cuz it's concept art. It is supposed to look cool. But I will steal it for some games 😆
