    D&D 5E (2024) 5e 2024 − The Monster Math

This is the kind of analysis I was looking forward too.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

No, that's what makes it weird. The Hatchling is a living creature with a "real" biology and the intelligence of a human. If it was a true animal, it wouldn't be as weird.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

I don't think the new PDK actually works beyond the "It's cooler than the old PDK!" reaction. It's kind of a mess, really. For starters, they half removed the old subclass leader role in order to give fighters a pet. It's not that fighters don't have room for a pet class, but this one still has...

    D&D Forums and Spam Threads

The spam threads are starting to move out of the D&D forum now too.

    D&D Forums and Spam Threads

I've just seen the same account post like 6 threads, and that's just one of them. Yeah, new and unposted accounts need to be limited somehow, not being able to create threads until they have posted somewhere else and a daily limit on posts until they post 4 or 5 times maybe.

Do You Think Open Playtests Improve a Game's Development?

The D&D Next playtest wasn't actually a playtest. It was more like an open marketing feedback survey.

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

This thing about what is humanoid and what's not humanoid is getting far too complicated for anyone's good. So. PCs have to be humanoid, even when they are ostensibly the same species as their non-humanoid cousins, because they are lesser than their relatives for arbitrary reasons? But also...

D&D General Which video game monster have you used in your game?

Chocobos. More like beasts of burden/mounts than enemy monsters, but still.

    Darkvision Ruins Dungeon-Crawling

I know I'm late to the thread and it's terribly off topic, but I hate how the Backrooms thing has totally ruined the beauty of liminal space by dragging it down to be nothing more than heavily filtered horror fodder.

Polygon: Indie TTRPG Companies are "sitting in their own little corners of the internet and wringing their hands"

This is a sentiment shared extensively by a lot of D&D youtubers who wish they didn't have to cover D&D. (In fact I can recall no less than 3 videos bemoaning the point the month alone). After a certain point, you have to wonder if it was even worth monetizing the "hobby" if they hate it so much.

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

I've just realized that Dandin should have Athletics Proficiency instead of Insight Expertise to make use of his climbing and swimming speeds.

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Legendary Resistance makes me wish they ported over the Condition Track.

    +1d4 Weapons BG3 in TTRPG?

The Magic Item Compendium from 3.5 has the Screaming weapon property (+1d4 sonic damage). It's the equivalent of a +1 bonus on a magic item, and has a Crafter Level of 7. Power wise: +1d4 damage is basically +2.5 damage. Which would put it somewhere between a Masterwork Weapon from 3.5 and a...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

"A dragon? That would be a grand adventure!" Dandin smirked while giving the bear a generous petting for putting up with the gathered crowd. "But Me and Ol' Sooty just got back, it would be rude to leave again without checking up on a few friends." Dandin let his mind wander into his memories...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

I saw the thread go up, but missed the edit. I suppose the first thing to do is look for the others then.

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

What's all this about changing around background stats? I know you could do that with the 2014 rules, but it didn't look like you could with the 2024 rules.

D&D 5E (2024) 2025 Monster Manual All You Need to Know video link is up.

The 2014 DMG spent around 10 pages on how to create a monster. 10 pages out of a 384 page book would be around 15 monsters cut on the high end.

I'm gonna be real with you. While you could totally do that ( and I have done that for multiple systems, up to and including including reverse engineering a basic mathematical formula to judge if the monsters are close enough to what players should be fighting), the entire point of buying extra...
