While I agree that a PDF is no substitute for a physical copy, especially for a rulebook, keep in mind that players don't need all the rules from the $10 PDF, at least not right away. One copy of the PDF + cheap printing means any given player can just have print copies of the sections directly...

HeroLab is supporting Pathfinder RPG upon launch (this Thursday) with the basic datasets, and the more advanced features (PrCs, some other unspecified stuff) will be free downloadable updates in the coming weeks.

IIRC, they have already said they are extremely leary of rules bloat/power creep, and this was in response to their announcement of the next 4 "base classes" that they are announcing Saturday at Gen Con. They have also announced a "DM's Guide" sorta book for next February, but it is definately...

I'm guessing the $10 PDf of the core rules will more than succeed at accomplishing this, and the predicted HUGE line at the Paizo booth will probably draw a few new eyeballs in and of itself.

My multi-year Scarred Lands game is winding down, and everyone is extremely hyped to play one of Paizo's APs using the Pathfinder RPG rules. We collectively looked at 4th ed and said "nice game, it's kinda like D&D" and haven't bothered to take a second look.

Didn't the Temple of Elemental Evil game run on the d20 system? It took the Circle of Eight to fix all the bugs, but it was a damn fun game after the patches. It certainly can be done, mechanically speaking.

IIRC, Parkinson used a model for Firiona Vie (I think that's her), and that model made charity appearances as the character. I've seen photos of her in costume at a children's hospital or something. At least she doesn't go around soft-core pornifying my EN World sidebar like that other tramp.

It has taken me over 5 minutes to open this thread, open this reply window and type this short reply. EN World is soooo slow that I cannot justify the time to come here while at work any longer, at least not daily. I check back every so often, but until it gets better, it's Paizo.com message...

This is an awesome idea, and they should have a booth for taking donations to this cause at every gaming Con in the world until it gets done.

I'm not too wild about the change to Wall of Force, but honestly, too much of the "generic wizard" in the preview is, well, generic! We still don't get a good look at the specialist abilities (although the mentioned Necromancer ability is frankly a no-brainer and the best option I could think...
