    [June] What are you reading?

It really is quite good. If you can, get a copy of the CD or book on tape of Seamus Heany reading it. It's abridged, but it's wonderful to hear the cadence of his storytelling, and his voice and accent fit it perfectly. I'm currently reading Grendel by John Gardener. (Plus Eberron, law...

I'm currently reading my double post. :\

    Eberron Art Gallery

The comic book art is growing on me. Seeing them posted here helped me appreciate them more, and I think I've figured out why: They're not scaled right to be full-page illustrations. Virtually all illustraion is drawn larger and then reduced in size before printing, and IMO these pictures...

Epic Mystic Theurge: Why is it so weak?

That's perfectly understandable. The real question to me is why they gave bonus feats every 6 levels instead of every 3? Wizards and Clerics both get epic feats every 3 levels, and the epic MT doesn't get more than those classes get. Both get +1 to one caster level each level.

    Eberron Art Gallery

As much as I like most of the art, I have to agree. The sketches of characters from the different races and regions gave a feel for the world. Clothing and appearchances really highlight the differences between countries and cultures. I don't get the same feel of that from the book. It's more...

    Eberron Art Gallery

That's odd. There are a bunch of pictures in there that I havn't seen in the book. I'm having a really hard time picking my favorite. :D Is it the halfling drummer, the Aernal city of the dead, the battle of warforged and undead, the skyship, the gorgeous art nouveau lighting rail.... I...

Looking for a Class and or Race...

Eberron has a race called Changelings that is almost exactly what you describe. They can change their bodies to disguise themselves, like the spell disguise self but real, not illusory. They can't change their clothes or possessions, but IIRC face dancers couldn't either.

[EN World Book Club] Swordspoint Discussion [May Selection]

I apologize for the late start. One thing after another has kept my reading to a minimum. Joe, the answer to why I chose it is a bit of all three. I stumbled across it on my own, remembered hearing about Kushner from a friend, and then read a review. I was looking for a Katherine Kurtz book...

    Referencial names for Warforged

I've just decided that when I play Eberron, I'll make a Warforged named Sommers. With a female persona. And don't forget Steve Austin, the name of the Bionic Man. Since he's a construct you could give him the nickname "stone cold." ;)

    'Change Shape' Races

The Fey'ri from the Forgotten Realms is a +2 ECL race with the change shape ability. It's basically a planetouched elf with demon blood, giving it wings, a few minor spell-like abilities, and Change Shape. They're in Monsters of Faerun and Races of Faerun. IIRC, their stats are also in the...

Erudite from Dragon 319 and Discipline powers

It's a screw-up. At one point Bruce Cordell said as such, and wrote an answer for what to do, but that didn't make much sense either. Personally, I just cross out the "or is a discipline power" part.

    Historical or Fictional Example

Take a look at polynesian islanders, such as the natives of Hawaii. From what I've learned about them, "living peacefully on the land, then going on the warpath" is a fairly good description of them.

    Children of the Rune

I'm going to wait for the print version too. For fiction and other long works I prefer to read a book than look at a computer screen. I'm eagerly awaiting reading it, but I can wait a few more months for a format that I can read while sitting in my comphy chair and that won't hurt my eyes.

[XPH]: Your take on Energy Missile augmentation

I quite agree, as do many others online. There is somewhat of a consensus that the augmentation to DC should be +1/2pp, like virtually all other powers whose DCs augment.

    Planecape recommended viewing

The Cell, for disturbing imagery and extra-planar locations. Spirited Away for the feel of an alien city with strange rules of its own. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead for existential philosophy and witty repartee.

Anyone discouraged with D&D/Eberron missing one central theme?

I don't think Eberron lacks a central theme. It's central theme, pulp adventure and intrigue, is just quite expansive. Think Indiana Jones or The Shadow in a magical world. Part of that theme is travelling to exotic locations, a combination of modern culture and savage cultures. Couldn't you...

    Hackmaster. Please explain.

My favorite quote about hackmaster. "My hypothesis is that Hackmaster is the Andy Kaufman of the RPG world, a great snarky deconstructive joke on its own fans. The punchline is that *you* are the punchline." - Philomousos (on RPG.net)
