Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

Well, quite. Gamers tend not to be "most people" when it comes to social graces :) It's probably just my jealousy talking - peeves me that there aren't any playtests in the UK while you US guys can just walk out on yours! :D

    3.5e Players, 4e GM

I think it'd require so much fudging that you'd essentially be playing "GM Fiat: The roleplaying game".

Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

I don't think you can have been very interesting in "trying the game" if you didn't even give it a whole session. Sounds to me like you had already made up your mind and just wanted to be passive-aggressive to people. *sits down, rolls up character* "Not for me!" *sits in corner, reads comic...

4e Annoyances for those who like 4e

They are, in my game. Easiest change ever.

I love 4E - but I hate the 4E modules. What can be done?

Hm, maybe I should set up a website where people can contribute their reviews of modules for 4e D&D - RottenModules.com :D

I love 4E - but I hate the 4E modules. What can be done?

In my own homebrew campaign I gave players enough "Quest XP" that they could gain a level every four encounters or so. It seemed right for heroic tier. But then again, I've never NOT played at heroic tier.

dnd 3.5 - Challenge my party.

Those all sound like great ways to piss players off. They've built their characters to do millions of points of damage, they're going to be annoyed if every time they drop their party piece broken combo the bad guy turns out to be a clone/robot/illusion/simulacrum. Just swarm them with dudes...

dnd 3.5 - Challenge my party.

Sounds like you need to inflate the number of enemies, while not debilitating the characters with effects like strength damage. That way there's something left to fight after round 2. Alternatively, simply ignore all damage the players do with their true strike cheese in the first round (tell...

I love 4E - but I hate the 4E modules. What can be done?

*shrug* I've got no trouble writing adventures, been doing it since 2e, and yeah, I've got a DDI sub (well, technically it's expired but fairly recently). It'd just be nice to play some of these published adventures - they're so shiny, and I love having what must be about ten sessions of...

I love 4E - but I hate the 4E modules. What can be done?

So, I've been playing 4e since it first came out, and I love it. It's a great system and I have a lot of fun DMing it and playing it. My problem is that I love the idea of the 4E modules like Keep on the Shadowfell and so on, but the way they are executed completely turns me off - they're just...

4E Class Survivor Round 17 - The Fighter is the Sole Survivor!

Well, to be fair, the 3E fighter was a big improvement over the 2E one - he had all those wonderful feats that made him able to break the rules a lot. Trouble was the feats you took at level 5 were just as good as the feats you took at level 15, while the wizard got fireball at level 5 (for 5D6...

    Fey Mounts?

I would probably go with any mundane animal you can imagine chasing somebody and cover it in sigils and give it glowing eyes. I think my whole take on the fey is that they should be beautiful and perfect, but also terrible and utterly amoral at the same time. Forget your nice elves who come to...

Wizards in 4E have been 'neutered' argument...

Well, of course not. Then the fight would last a single round because he would be an instant pile of dust. In order to make the encounter interesting, you basically have to remove a large amount of the wizard's arsenal of spells from the equation, either by nigh-unbeatable SR or by...

Wizards in 4E have been 'neutered' argument...

Rituals, the things that any self-respecting wizard should have tons of, can do a lot of the cosmic power. Teleportation, raising of the dead (something wizards couldn't do before), and so on. Wizards already get a leg-up as far as rituals are concerned by getting the feat for free. Do rituals...

    Primal Power Discussion

To be honest, it's the whirling barbarian I think is really powerful here. The two-weapon at-will is really nice (effectively 2[W]+STR+DEX if you set it up right, which isn't hard to do), and having STR/DEX as your primary/secondary stats PLUS the barbarian AC bonus seems to set them up...

4E Class Survivor Round 17 - The Fighter is the Sole Survivor!

Must say, the 4e fighter totally rocks. If you wanted to point at one thing 4e got unequivocally correct, it was the change from the 3e fighter to the 4e fighter.

Stalker's Obsidian Skill Challenge in Play...

I love the Obsidian system, it works a lot better than the vanilla one. I'm also a big fan of using skill challenges for offroad travelling - for every success below the number required to succeed, the party loses a healing surge. I'd also use this for any gruelling physical activity, like...

Penny Arcade posts interesting puzzle challenge

Man, how video gamey. Pshaw, maybe that would be cool if you like popular MMORPG World of Warcraft but it's not for me.

    the worst party ever

Well, that's great and all, but all that really says to me is that the party defender and other melee characters are probably catching all the flak for the druid - which is exactly what their job is. If it was just five druids, they'd have to take the flak themselves, and not having much damage...
