Help! My party has no healer!

Well, the players are pretty new to the game (check out the Marauder ranger, oh god) and they're mostly melee-based, so focus fire is tough to do.

Help! My party has no healer!

I hate DMPCs and will never use them. Playing D&D with myself is not what I signed up for :)

Help! My party has no healer!

Oh, I'm certainly rebalancing for four characters instead of five. Taking one dude out of a five-monster encounter really isn't hard. I think the problems tend to arise with monsters that can get around the fighter's marking - the fighter can deal with anything thrown at her, it's just when...

Help! My party has no healer!

Oh, Maya actually has this - I probably should've mentioned it :)

Help! My party has no healer!

My party's just hit level 11 or so, and the bard player has moved out of the area. This leaves four characters, and the party no longer has a healing character. The party makeup is this: Maya - level 12 human shield fighter/dreadnought Adelaine - level 12 human night stalker assassin/venomed...

    Themes: What's the Catch?

Thing is, though, many of the Dark Sun monsters are hyper-powerful. If the players get powerups, and the monsters get powerups, is it still power creep? Likewise, the Monster Manual 3 damage values powered up the monsters - is that power creep? I guess Dark Sun 4e is the Forgotten Realms of 3e...

How to make a game harder?

Firstly, what you've read is fallacious. I've TPKed parties in 4ed, as well as picked off people solo. 4e is just as lethal as previous editions. Should you want harder games, simply raise the level of the opposition, same as previous editions. Finally, make sure you're using the Monster...

Where are the changes to monsters from MM3 found?

I believe the time will come.

July Rules Update DMG: Errata needed?

One thing I'd like to see - standardisation for when you use the "high", "medium" and "low" amounts (for example, for the melee attack of an artillery, use the "low" amount, for the ranged attacks of anything but artillery use "medium") and also some standardisation for the limited attacks...

Want to Run Tomb of Horrors

Just posting to say that the DM's reward Tomb of Horrors is totally badass.

Gabe (Penny Arcades) take on Essentials Red Box

You're like this on all topics, though :P

D&D 4E Is It Time to Look at 4E Again?

Not really, in my experience. Some monsters are obviously better than others, and you should ABSOLUTELY be using the errataed monster damage guidelines that arose from Monster Manual 3 - depending on which monster we look at, it can be an increase in damage output by 50%, sometimes even more. A...

    The D&D Boss Fight

Plus, does anyone see anything wrong with this picture? DM: You face a being of incredible power - roaring, it charges towards you, flames belching from it's gigantic maw... Player: Oh, I drop some mud on it. DM: It dies instantly.

D&D 4E Is It Time to Look at 4E Again?

Yeah, and it's as untrue now as it was when people said it about 3e.

    Essentials Magic Missile

I dunno, it just seems wrong that minions get higher defenses than everyone else, then this guy comes along and just automatically kills them. I think there should always be an attack roll when killing guys, and that goes for auto-damage powers as well. I rule that minions are immune to autodamage.

    The monster 'crit' problem

Whoa, thread necromancy. I think monster damage has been fixed very nicely by MM3 maths.

D&D 4E Which of the Wizards 4e H-E adventure have you played or run?

Yep, I know. It's still a 4e module, and a good one at that. I just ran the first bit, and my players are liking all the puzzles and traps (well, maybe they like the puzzles more than the traps :D) and I'm having a blast. I dunno, maybe I just prefer the "deathtrap dungeon" approach.
