Have you decided to change systems?

Yes, as Monte has often pointed out, the high-magic assumptions of D&D are taken to a logical conclusion in Ptolus. What I love about Ptolus personally, though, has little to do with rules; I love that this particular logical conclusion is both interesting and full of flavor, and not nearly so...

Have you decided to change systems?

Seriously. Me too. Ptolus is of a higher quality that is several orders of magnitude than any gaming product I've ever seen. This single product alone is enough to keep me from wanting to try anything else. I guess I could always adapt the setting to another system ... but I'm not sure the...

Recommend me some good political adventures

Seconded. I love that book. Chocked full of well-thought out & well-written ideas. Also, check out OD&D Test of the Warlords in the Companion (CM) series of adventures. Test of the Warlords is the best in so far as it lays out a year-long campaign based around running a newly established...

Which ENWorlder Would You Want to Meet?

Miky is how she spells it (short for Maricella), but she pronounces it MEE-key. Thanks for the kind words. It was a pleasure to have you, Colonel. You're always welcome in our house. Since it turns out that we're next door neighbors, we should endeavor to hang out from time to time. We'll...

Which ENWorlder Would You Want to Meet?

Well, I got to hang out with Grodog ALL day today. What a blast! Very cool cat. We met up with Col Hardisson, enjoyed a delightful dinner, and then retired to my parlor where we geeked out ... A LOT. Grodog regaled us with gaming lore as only he can. It was educational. (edit: Piratecat resized...

Which ENWorlder Would You Want to Meet?

Be Jealous ... I'm looking forward to meeting these two guys tomorrow! Judging from all the posts here, Lord Grodog and His Majesty Col Hardisson are at the top of a few people's lists, including my own. I am truly priviledged. Everyone: proceed with the smoldering jealousy. Go ahead.

    Tell me about Battle Box

The revised edition comes with the steel d20 and a cd. The cd has .jpgs of all the area effects so you can print them out on cardstock and make as many as you'd like. It has some other stuff too, I'll post about it when I get the chance.

Help me make D&D easier to DM

This is a really good idea. I can't believe this isn't part of the core rules.

    Tell me about Battle Box

Not trying to be a jerkus-malloy or anything, but the 20-sider is actually not pewter; it's brushed steel. It matches the set of dwarven dice from crystal caste. I mention this only in the intrest of folks who want to buy it. It is freakin' awesome though. I loved it so much I bought a whole set...

ColonelHardisson ... we have something in common. I moved to San Diego from the Cleveland area 4.5 years ago (after graduating from Oberlin). You, too, should shoot me an email sometime. I'm just starting a Ptolus campaign if you're looking for a game. :)

Seriously considering Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (2nd edition)

I have a couple questions about 1st edition WFRP. Is anyone familiar with the first Realms of Sorcery book written by Ken Walton? If so, is it recommended? The authors themselves admit that the magic system was both rushed and flawed; this was supposed to fix it. Does it? Second question--in...

    Inheritance! and Books!

From Wizards' own ad copy ... "Spell Compendium is the one place to find spells that are referenced time and again: the best, most iconic, most popular, and most frequently used." It's just more convenient for DM's to look spells up, and for players when packing a backpack. I actually don't...
