D&D General WizKids Issues Refund for Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set

Ditto. For the price point, it just doesn't seem worth it to me. Though I do have some players who are quite happy with theirs. Sometimes they'll order a miniature from HF when the campaign begins and I just hope for their sake their character is still alive when the miniature arrives.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

It's walk-in only. While they'll announce a sale online, you've got to walk in and see what's actually on the table. I was surprised to see so many WizKids models. But then it hasn't looked like they've been restocking for a few months now.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

In other miniatures news, my FLGS recently cleared their shelves of most WizKids miniatures, placing them in the 30% off section of the store. Part of the shelf space is now devoted to Reaper, which is nice, but last time I was there the entirety of the space hadn't been filled. I'm wondering...

What are some alternate ways to think about archetypes?

In Cyberpunk 2020, there were various roles characters could have which included Solo (combat person), Corporate, Rocker Boy (rock star), Nomad, Lawman, etc., etc. Not so much in the main book, but in subsequent materials produced for the game, you were encouraged to use these templates in odd...

D&D General Arneson, Gygax, and Lawsuits, Oh My! An Actual History of the OG D&D Litigation

During new employee orientation I go over benefit options with our freshly hired employees. Once in a while I'll say something like, "AD&D doesn't mean Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, it means accidental death & dismemberment."

A lot of times, a cloak will give you an opportunity to paint something interesting.

    Marvel Television's Ironheart | Official Trailer | Disney+

One of my favorite series of all times is Marvel Team-Up from 1972 to 1985 which typically featured Spider-Man teaming up with some other hero or team. But since it was its own series, the a team up never interfered in what was happening in X-Men, Power Man & Iron Fist, or even Spider-Man's own...

There have been a few that approached D&D but certainly never became as successful. Vampire the Masquerade in the 1990s was never a household name, but it did become famous/infamous enough it appeared in an episode of Real Stories of the Highway Patrol (A COPS knockoff), the hit television...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

I have never seen a clean alligator snapping turtle in the wild. Even fully submerged they're dirty.

RPG Print News – Mongoose Publishing, Troll Lord Games, and More

It's been years since I've seen anyone mention Alternative Armies. They're the makers of Slaughterloo, a miniatures skirmish game with fantasy races in Napoleonic warfare. The English are orcs, Austrians are dog men, the French are elves, Spanish are dark elves, Russians are undead, etc., etc...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

Another Reaper miniature. It's supposed to be a snapping turtle but I know an alligator snapping turtle when I see one. I've made an attempt to make it appear dirty by using some weathering powders, but, well, it didn't turn out how I wanted. But then I'm not entirely disappointed either.

Did the personality traits, Virtues and Vices, such as merciful/cruel, proud/pious, valorous/cowardly, etc., etc. have any influence on other games? It's the earliest game I can think of where players rolled to determine how their character might react to a situation.

Anyone remember that show Connections? It was a television show produced on an obscure European island that looked at how different events, discoveries, and inventions were used to build new inventions. It's kind of like the game of Civilization where the tech tree shows you masonry and...

D&D General Arneson, Gygax, and Lawsuits, Oh My! An Actual History of the OG D&D Litigation

So what I gather from reading that article is that Arneson created D&D? That as the whole point of the article and the litigation, right?

    I’m playing Pendragon!

Way to rub it in our faces! I've been wanting to play or run this game for years but haven't had the opportunity. I probably need to go on a quest or something.

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

It’s worse than that. DC had a deal with TSR to publish D&D comics. TSR tried to get around that deal by publishing their own comic and adding scenario information at the end based on the story. DC was not amused.
