My LGS charges $10 but gives $5 of it in store credit to the GM and the other $5 in credit to the player. I don't think anyone at the event runs any of the adventures given out for free RPG day. I'm running a Call of Cthulhu adventure called Servants of the Lake.

Maybe I haven't played enough Tomb Raider video games. I didn't really know there was enough for it to have its own distinct setting. I'm sorry it didn't work out for Evil Hat, but I'm happy they're going to use what they've worked on so far to make something out of it.

You're absolutely right. The same is equally true of death metal. I think if D&D is ever unseated, it'll come as a surprise, but when we have a chance to look at it with a little perspective we'll figure out why.

You know what? Maybe. Game preferences undulate with the ebb and flow of demographic changes. It's not like D&D is the same game it was in 2000 let alone 1974. One day something is going to unseat D&D as the premier RPG. But we all know it's going to be Call of Cthulhu. :-)

It takes a while for the gears of commerce to stop grinding. But as evidenced by the number of unsold Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney toys sitting on the shelves, it looks like Hasbro has been overproducing toys for the last few years.

That's exactly what makes it so great! While I don't think D&D will always be the #1 RPG, I don't see anything in Daggerheart that would indicate it might unseat D&D.

Are you kidding? Vampire made an appearance on the hit syndicated television show Real Stories of the Highway Patrol back around 1996 or so. It doesn't get more mainstream than that! Vampire brought a lot of people into RPGs who wouldn't otherwise have been caught (un)dead playing D&D...

Oh, wow. For a minute I had a flashback to when we looked up movie show times in newspapers or called movie phone. The only two movies there that are bad are Cannonball Run II and Rhinestone. Everything else is pretty much gold.

Bingo! I have yet to find an RPG that provides a satisfactory vehicle combat system for basically the reasons you've listed here. I don't mean to discourage the OP, but this is a golden opportunity for them to come up with something fun.

I think Palladium already made that game. It was originally called Night Spawn before Todd McFarland sued them, forcing them to change it to Nightbane.
