    Pramas on the OGL

We've already seen a publisher announce they were Phase One, back in January (Necromancer). Announcing Phase One status, and saying "We have been given the GSL" are two very different things.

    Pramas on the OGL

I'm afraid that you're mistaken. The NDA covers all communications between the signee and WOTC. Hypothetically, if we received the GSL, or any communication regarding it, we would be unable to say so.

    Imperial Age Faeries

The Imperial Age: Faeries offers Gamemasters and Players one of the most comprehensive supplements on Faeries ever released, applicable not only to Victorian-era d20 campaigns, but any game looking for a taste of the otherworldly realm. Chapter One, On Being Fey, presents an introduction to the...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

For what it's worth, we've resolved our argument in this area -- We're allowing for two options: Gamemasters can use Wisdom as-is, or can split wisdom into two abilities: Perception and Will. The default assumption for THRILLING TALES 2nd Edition (the first product released using this...

Request: Keep GSL-related discussions here / merged with Should OGL subjects that...

Request: Keep GSL-related discussions here ENWorld's mod policy has been to move any GSL-related discussions to the OGF-L forum. I think this is a mistake: The OGF-L is just the relocated discussion center of the old Open Gaming Foundation list -- related to the OGL. Wizards has gone (is...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

There are a number of mechanics we're adding for genre emulation. For example, the Stunt Point system I mentioned above, which originally appeared in our MARS game -- and were specifically created to be, as you said, "like Action points, but actually useful." Other emulation mechanics...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

A long time ago I discovered that if you spent all your time trying to error-trap against powergamers, you'd end up beating the joy out of a game. There's *always* gonna be some twit who doesn't get the point, and you shouldn't worry about trying to force them to be good players. Hence, I...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

Tests of Faith, for those campaigns with supernatural elements, for example. As I said, we're arguing about this one. The question is whether or not there's enough there for two Abilities, whether we should be splitting Wisdom into two abilities (Perception and Willpower, forgoing the...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

I disagree, whole-heartedly. Here's a quiz -- what were the Shadow's skills? Doc Savage's? The answer is simple-- whatever was needed at the time. All pulp heroes pulled previously-unknown skills out of the air from story to story. He needs to be able to fly an autogyro? Sure! He needs...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

The numbers will work out exactly -- instead of concerning ourselves with what you rolled to get the bonus, we only list the derived modifier. So, instead of saying you have a STR of 17, you say that you have a STR of +3. Sure! Improved Investigation: The character is trained to notice...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

To be honest, this is something we're still arguing about. My thoughts: I've always felt that perception was crammed into Wisdom (it wasn't there in 1st Edition -- I think it was added in 3rd (I don't have a copy of 2nd Edition handy)) -- because they knew it was needed, but had no...

The Odyssey System -- Stripped-down Hot Rod d20 rules

Just to give you a sneak peak at what we're doing, here's a summary of the developments of the Odyssey System: ABILITIES • Abilities are rated in bonuses only (+1, +2, etc.), rather than numeric scale. • New Ability added: Perception • All Saving Throws are simple ability checks, plus half...

Has 4e given everyone writer's block?

No writer's block here! We're full steam ahead on the OGL-based Odyssey System, prepping for its launch in May with the second edition of THRILLING TALES. Just busy, is all. :D

WOTC, Scott, Where in the World is the GSL

I think you misunderstand me. Fans ARE NOT publishers. Publishers are getting the GSL before the public go-live date. Therefore, as I said -- non-publisher use of the GSL is not remotely an issue until AFTER that go-live date.

WOTC, Scott, Where in the World is the GSL

Non-publisher use of the GSL is not remotely a factor until after the public go-live date.

WOTC, Scott, Where in the World is the GSL

Personally speaking, I'd rather that WOTC staffers do what they're doing: concentrate on getting this GSL issue resolved and out to us publishers who have signed the NDA, instead of wasting time answering GSL questions from non-publishers. No offense, but the GSL is, essentially, an issue for...

WOTC, Scott, Where in the World is the GSL

I certainly hope not. They mishandled the roll-out of GSL -- they shouldn't punish "Phase 2" (January 09) publishers because of it. My personal view? They should eliminate the early buy-in. They'll lose the 5K per, sure, but they'll actually ensure more support as a result -- which is...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo making a decision

I doubt that. We're certainly not anywhere near the size or presence of Paizo, but we were one of the few publishers invited to participate in the pre-announcement conference call back in January, and I can tell you we haven't seen anything on the GSL yet.
