I think Cragmaw Castle near Phandalin was home to 6-7 bad guy groups of scum and villainy before the PCs had some henchmen settle there and build a proper road.

@Hellbard welcome to the site. I was hoping the thread being brought back would mean that something was cleared up, maybe in the new errata or such.

The first couple pages look like something any game can use. The last couple are more pirate focused. I like the name list, they always come in handy. The insult list may be a bit too much with some of them, but it does help to get into the spirit.

There could also be a rotation weather on offensive or defensive. Like you say, everyone pulls back to regroup and after an hour or two fighting starts again. Depending on the types of forces, there could be breaks to gather wounded and pray even.
