D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

Unless someone objects, it's valid. People don't really tend to go way out there unless they're doing a bit at which point it's usually funny enough that no one is bothered.

I still set the difficulty, they just pick the skills to use.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I mean, he might have been or at least appeared to have been a mixed bag years ago before someone told him his cave rescue sub was terribly designed and would kill people and it rocked his world so hard that apparently his mask flew off, but he's been very and increasingly consistent for at...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

Not who you're asking but I don't even suggest/pick skills for my challenges if I'm not writing out the adventure for someone else to use. I just present the issue and ask them how they approach it.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I never thought about the whole 'father of' thing being an American thing. I guess that might be because I recall a lot of non-Americans being described in my history classes being described as the Father of X, but then I realize that all those descriptions were from books written from an...

D&D 5E (2024) Which Creature Type Would You Most Like a Fizban's/Bigby's Style Book About?

Wait. Don't inevitables and warforged have a kind of society? Also mycanoids and dryads? And how are beasts not good for hooks and backgrounds? Did I fall into the world where Moby Dick and the Ghost and the Darkness don't exist?

D&D 5E (2024) Which Creature Type Would You Most Like a Fizban's/Bigby's Style Book About?

Beasts! I want to see actual fantasy animals that are like... animals instead of monstrosities for no good reason.

I didn't say people couldn't comment or think about think about this, I was commenting on the whataboutism.

D&D 5E (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

Also, basic internet mean-girling doesn't really compare to hiring mercenaries and threatening an entire industry. Why aren't people as concerned about this 9 mil as they are about this howitzer?

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I'd put money on Colbert picking it up since he's always commenting on nerd news and is a D&D player himself. Even money it shows up on Internet Today where Musk is just a regular in their rogue's gallery, but beyond that, I think it's too niche for anyone else to care about because regular...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

When is the cutoff for 'their time'? Is Musk himself absolved of everything he says and does because he's a 'product of his time'? Are all the kids saying the n-word in CoD lobbies? At what point is 'the time' the time where people are expected to act like decent human beings?

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

The point of Musk commenting on this is not actually to defend Gygax or D&D, it's to defend sexism against being called out. That's what this whole fight is actually about: protecting the institution of sexism from being torn down via discussion and analysis of it's historical permutations...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

More than him, apparently. No one is saying this. The focus of this discussion is the actual sexist material in the books, not the man himself. And no human is above criticism for the things they say and do. Even if they invent a fun game of pretend.

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

Macguffin idea to go with it: The Efreets realize what's happening and stop selling wishes. The PTC sets out to find a Seal of Solomon type artifact to simply bind them and steal their powers instead. Maybe the PCs even find a prototype that allows prestidigitation at will by tapping a tiny...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

Being able to bribe Efreets with rare and exotic good for wishes, which allows them to slowly erode reality itself could be an interesting plot point. Maybe they're asking for so many wishes so frivolously that existence can't heal what would normally be minor damage from rare wishes.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

What context were we support to take the harlot table in, I wonder? Bro didn't just say sexist crap in just the one article where he loudly says he is and people are desperate to explain away to protect his purity from himself, you know?
