Dungeons & Dragons May Not Come Back to Greyhawk After 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I feel like I'm going crazy here. I'm ignoring that point because objectively, based on what other posters are saying, there are things unique to Greyhawk that other people just... seem to be trying to obfuscate to present it as boring and generic. I'm not claiming we don't need a Star Wars...

D&D 5E (2024) The Problem with Healing Powercreep

Also, I do think about my story and how poorly written and absolutely boring it would be to watch or play. I imagine how much 'fun' it would be to roll to make sure I'm mute throughout the entire meaningless meeting I'm on and the absolute thrill of making Excel rolls. I would kill for an...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

I literally wrote the novel of my world (6, actually) and I still have room in it for things the players want that I didn't think of or don't personally care about.

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

For the subgroup we've got made up of younger folks not local to the main groups' area, I take regular breaks to give them the opportunity to run something for a month or two before I pick back up. There's usually a week or so of discord discussion while they decide whose idea we're gonna play...

D&D General How do you use giants in your game?

I'd move them to splats too and let the core be a baseline for the game.

D&D General How do you use giants in your game?

Aside from the 4e DMG1, I don't think any non-splatbook is in my top 25 D&D books of all time.

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

So an example of how things work in my group. We've been playing a PF game with the Kingdom rules since the start of the pandemic. At this point, we've gone beyond the scope of what those rules were designed for and even with three of the players maintaining a spreadsheet to make it work more...

D&D General How do you use giants in your game?

Honestly, I'm of the mind that the core isn't where you put specific themed stuff. But it's the way they try to make every book contained fragments of things a player or DM would want instead of doing whole books with a theme is to blame here. It'd be really cool if we had a Large and In Charge...

It's bad internet buzzwords to pretend to win points.

D&D General How do you use giants in your game?

Isn't there a fighter subclass that has giant powers? Rune Knight? I feel like Elementals have a better beef for representation. Or monstrosities for not being a real creature type, but rather a trashcan they put anything they don't think fits.

If what they were designing wasn't popular, they wouldn't have to fall back on having final authority to force it. Ah misapplication of Psych 101. No need to go farther.

D&D General Rerolling Initiative each Round

I guess what you could do is have people roll five initiatives at the start and use them in order.

Dungeons & Dragons May Not Come Back to Greyhawk After 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I just feel like fans would remember and pitch something aside from the literal first rough description. It feels like if 90% of Star wars fans just described Luke getting his saber and blowing up the Death Star and never mentioning Vader or the Force or even what the Death Star is or that the...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

It's exactly what was said. We like... talk to each others. As friends. As equals. We got to know each other and our tastes and collaborate. It's a defaming analogy and I find it pretty gross. And no one is saying that. Nothing that is being said has anything to do with any of that. This is...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

If they want to run for that group, then they should actually discuss things with the group like adults and come to some sort of understanding. Collaborative game is collaborative. And if they're going to sulk and let the game suffer if they don't get their precise way... maybe just don't DM at...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

I think if someone wants a traditional experience, you can't force that on the other players. You need to get people on board because there's going to be other non-trad things the players are going to want if they want non-trad species. I just made actual half dragons because I'm tried of...

D&D General Rerolling Initiative each Round

I'm of the exact opposite line of thinking as Zaukrie. Maybe it's the platform we use, but readding initiative takes up time, and I'm against removing the tactical advantage of knowing what you can spare in terms of knowing when the enemy will act. Of all the talk of initiative, rerolling...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

Plenty of people are directly arguing against the 'and' part in favor of just the DM getting to decide period and the only recourse for players being not to play with the DM. It's broader, but banning PH species is red flag 0. One guy who is by definition as a PC is a super special weirdo, in a...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

I think we may be misunderstanding each others. I'm not saying you specifically are a problem. I'm saying I've seen people who are and who are very proudly.
