D&D General Does WotC use its own DMG rules?

The time 'you must be this magical to play' became a gate was somewhere in the early 2000's. How long did 5e need to realize what the edition it was pretending to be was doing?

D&D General Does WotC use its own DMG rules?

IT's not when the book insists that such an encounter is balanced and doens't offer ways to deal with it aside from hope people will intuit that it doesn't work and there's no way to deal with it. You can modify a flying encounter by having aerial terrain or ceilings, for example. That's the...

D&D General Does WotC use its own DMG rules?

Even artists get some level of instruction beyond 'ruin hundreds of dollars worth of canvas' though. The DMG at bare minimum should address common variables like flight, party composition and hard gated effects like requiring magic items or a certain spell to be effective.

Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Cover, Synopsis Revealed

No, because that's only one example of Ravenloft not being as real serious and look at my scars emo as people are remembering it through their nostalgia goggles. My introduction to the setting was an official novel about and evil cat man in a hilarious swing and a miss at both Jekyll and Hyde...

Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Cover, Synopsis Revealed

Need I remind people that Ravenloft has multiple zombie apocalypse domains? zombie apocalypse is 'murder all the human shaped things you want free of guilt while living out your survivalist fantasy' which is so far from gothic horror as D&D art arguments are from interactions between people who...

Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Cover, Synopsis Revealed

I love how people try to use Mos Eisley as a lame, sad insult as if it wasn't an exciting part of one of the most celebrated fantasy stories ever created or that it wouldn't have been as engaging or effective if it were populated by the usual boring hairless apes. Look, if WotC wants to lose...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

But we're not supposed to use HP as an example of how the rules aren't physics for some reason. Also, they could be holding on to the potion to pass down to a descendant who turns out to be a Chosen One by actively choosing the completely diegetic job of 'Rogue', goes to Rogue Academy, minors...
