Or we could look at the actual core in that I specifically and repeatedly states that I hate the Mulatto tragedy of Tanis Half-Elven being the assume default because it's directly insulting to me and not try to diminish it for a dumb joke about 'oh, so you don't like elves'. Okay?

Fair, but in this context we're talking humans, orcs and The Perfectest People Evar.

Still find it super-weird that gods are beholden to alignment at all.

Knowing that the racist trope it springs from is literally called the 'Mulatto Tragedy' and is all about how I should know my place and be sad... I'm going to use that terminology.

I'd rather not give the DM license to harass me for my species choice, thank you. Let people who want to play outsiders play outsiders instead of encouraging people to treat certain basic character choices as outsiders against the players' will.

Helves were still dodgy, just not in the way that you normally see depicted as dodgy in pop culture, but rather ~super romantically tragic~.

Though 4e desperately tried to make it clear D&D is a team sport and got solidly roundhouse-kicked in the chicklets for it. I was genuinely shocked they had the gall to write the kind of stuff they did in Volo and the 'in universe documents' gimmick served to make me genuinely hate the character.

I mean, I'm 100% against realistic and functional armor, but I want the armor to look cool like the chunky-bois that showed up in 3x art with the unnecessary ridges and boots that weight fifty thousand pounds, or Hennet's belt of many belts, not single leather straps on a single pauldron that...

We... we had an entire species in the books for decades that was explicitly, canonically the product of sexual assault. Your group didn't have to do anything--the designers baked that crap right in.

Seriously if you read that article' all the things that were said in done as part of this community, all the crappy attitude and treatment of people and the only takeaway you get from that is 'wait, but I liked that one painting-- you guys are a bunch of prudes, how DARE you!'... I don't even...

But look at how they behave is a woman is even remotely ripped and powerful-looking. Or full clothed and not draggin' a wagon. Or just looks like an average looking woman who exists in the real world.

Deploy the Satanic Panic Shield! Any criticism can be easily deflected by saying it's like the Satanic Panic! Don't forget to ignore the ill treatment and weird SA fixation--someone criticized a piece of art and not for having glasses or being 'twee'. Pay attention to that! Be distracted...

I feel like aggressively bolding 'mythology' and doubling down on asserting certain active religion's divinities are that as opposed to a certain other one told me all I really needed to know.

    D&D General D&D memes thread discussion…

I find the psychology behind threatening 'anything you can do, the monsters can do' as a means to shutting down player agency fascinating. Especially in the context of 'my world is real and breathing; your characters aren't special' when a stroke of inspiration for a PC is instantly communicated...

D&D General The Human Side of D&D History - From Gary Gygax to Temple of Elemental Evil

Is... this a parody? Did you or did you not try to argue that Gygax was a product of his time? Did you or did you not try to defend making that argument? Don't try to shift that to accusing you to sexism. Don't try to conjure things I didn't say. just yes or no to those two questions...

Yeah, but 'exchange' is a rather broad concept. It can be as simple as service, or as weird as 'your humanity' or for the hivemind 'contributing processing power'.

D&D General The Human Side of D&D History - From Gary Gygax to Temple of Elemental Evil

I'm sorry, accused who of saying they were defending sexism when sexism never appeared in their post? And that's still not a strawman. A strawman is creating a position that doesn't exist or isn't involved in the discussion to attack. It's not 'I disagree with your interpretation of what I...
