D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

The highest I saw it was #75. Is there any way to check what it's rank was historically?

    D&D General Zero-Prep D&D Game?

Yeah, there's a distinction to make between absolutely zero prep, as in pure improv, and minimal prep. Then there's also the question of is someone else's prep being used. As in are you just running a module without reading it beforehand, so reading it at the table as you need to. That's one...

That’s the fight I had in my playtest. The players basically never rolled with hope in the first fight. Six players. Four or five rounds and there was maybe two hope rolls. It was nuts.

Yeah, there’s a page-and-half about how to deal with NPCs. So to say it’s missing or an oversight is just factually wrong. People might not like what’s there. But there are rules in place. If nothing else, fall back on fiction first and the PC focus of the game.

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

Yeah. It's good advice. I'm sure it predates Unknown Armies 2E by decades as it's a variation of what I heard coming up in the 80s. Not sure it was written down anywhere before that though.

Definitely one way to go. I remember reading a bit about the referee not rolling for NPCs somewhere in the book, but don't recall exactly where. You could also give the PCs an extra domain card or two to represent the NPC. They still have to spend their resources on abilities, mark hope and...

Could an American write Doctor Who? - Babylon 5 creator throws hat in the ring

That's one rumor but it hasn't been confirmed. It makes a lot of money for the BBC so they'll probably try to keep it going regardless.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

We give ourselves infinite benefit of the doubt while giving almost exactly none to people who disagree with us. There's a long list of justifications and assumptions that explain my side and I shouldn't have to detail them all for you to just believe me and accept my opinion as fact, but you...

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

I've never really understood this mindset and that's as someone who's often described as a killer referee. The referee should never, ever, ever actively try to kill the PCs. First, the referee can literally say "rocks fall, everyone dies" and the PCs are dead or the referee can throw infinite...

Could an American write Doctor Who? - Babylon 5 creator throws hat in the ring

Sure, why not? Though it might be easier to train a British person to write than teach an American how to be British enough for Doctor Who. They could have an editor look over the script and edit in the Britishisms...but then they could equally take a bad script from a British amateur and...

It is worth pointing out that rests in Daggerheart are just that, rests. They aren’t sleep. There’s no inherent connection between a long rest and sleep. A LR is described as resting a few hours. The possible activities suggest relaxation rather than sleep. So there’s further no inherent...

Exactly. It gives the PCs an incentive to push on rather than long rest after every fight. That and very few abilities are tied to long rests. Most are stress or hope.

Also the Daggerheart resources are more explicitly connected to each other so it’s easier to see what fits where and how they can change the fight. HP is your standard death (move) timer. Armor slots are temporary HP. Stress is pew-pew fuel, but also acts as a kind of HP that overflows to...

I haven’t read it yet. How many fights are in that one? Yeah. There’s a few more moving parts to Daggerheart than 5E and it came out less than a month ago so most people are still getting used to it. A lot also comes down to the rolls. If the PCs are rolling with fear a lot, like mine were...
