    D&D 5E (2014) 5e consequence-resolution

Locks in general are a bad example because by nature they are designed to have at least some possible way to open them so saying it's impossible is contextual. If it has a verbal component as the only way to unseal a tomb then it's only situationally impossible depending on what the PCs know...

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

And the opposite was true for anyone who avoided most physical interactions with stuff. The bonuses for being small greatly out weighed the cons for casters. I'd like to avoid that paradigm moving forward.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e consequence-resolution

That's...a really bad idea. You are reinforcing the idea of hyper specialization on checks. The point of bounded accuracy is so you don't need to take every single opportunity cost to be competent at a task. The D20 is random enough with adding a save or forever fail effect to it. If the task...

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

I'm partial to damage threshold and some times flat reduction as simple mechanics to tag on to NPCs that I want to feel truly epic and can destroy armies without slapping "well it's immune to non magic stuff I guess.." stickers on it. My bulk rules originally was designed to streamline...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e consequence-resolution

Aye. It's a common mistake for DMs to utilize the action resolution mechanic as a means to determine what is possible rather than setting appropriate consequences based on the risks involved. You never rolling to see if you can open a safe you're rolling to see how long it's going to take you...

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

I don't think it's a derail as long as we loop back. On an individual scale bounded accuracy has flaws but it does keep game logic sane as you progress. Even ancient dragons can be downed by enough guards shooting arrows and max lv PC have a reason to fear getting overwhelmed by hordes of low CR...

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

Fair. Are attack rolls just a special ability check...anyways. the range works work ok for 5e based on the normalized range of play. It work best from lv 5-15 where most tables see play so overall it's a good concept. It could be better on the top end in many regards like having saves DCs that...

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

Bounded accuracy applies to attack and save DC modifiers. That's it.

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

I don't think bounded accuracy is designed to do what you think it does.

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana Today: Giant Themed Class Options and Feats

Mixed feelings on this UA. The overall flavor is stretched precariously thin. Most would be served as generic options. The barbarian is ok. Rage on thrown melee weapons should be something all barbs get and the rest is just ok. Strangely not synergistic with reach and size increase on the same...

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

Quality of play change I made was to remove size and weight and replace it with bulk. It allows me to make the Minotaur "larger"without countless little interactions that can cause issues.

D&D 5E (2014) Using booming blade on a reaction attack with sanctuary question

Huh? There isn't any conflict with using a cantrips and a bonus action leveled spell. Either way sanctuary is going to break if the BB rider damage triggers and/or you make a OA if you use the updated text.

    D&D 5E (2014) dnd alternate covers

I buy them to support the local brick n mortar. I use them for prep work but use the standard copies when I run games.

    D&D 5E (2014) What is Quality?

Individual aspects of 5e could be called good/bad/whatever but the overall system is way too fluid to be given such a restrictive description unless you don't like that aspect. Which in itself is subjective. For example I could say the editing for material could be better formatting to make it...

D&D 5E (2014) How long are you willing to wait for a build to "turn on?"

Im a DM 99.99999% of the time. I don't have the luxury to wait for stuff to start working the few times I get out from behind the screen.

    D&D 5E (2014) Armour as Damage Threshold

I tried it at one point and it just never works with the 5e framework. Slowed down action resolution too much to make it worthwhile. I ended up adding DR to heavy armor and just stuck with AC.

D&D General Is power creep bad?

I disregard Critical Roll content because it's all over the place and horribly written. I still thought it was semi official as well but they could have changed that. The bladsinger is good but not obviously better than abjuration, envoker, or even Necro. It's has some neat features but in...

D&D General Is power creep bad?

Wizards don't have many more subclasses because their core class takes up so much of the design space they don't have much room left. They naturally expand with splats because they always get excess to the bulk of the spells so there's that.

D&D General Is power creep bad?

Buffing weak options isn't usual considered power creep. For it to occur it need to push past the upper boundaries of tolerance for a given system. Lucky for 5e it's pretty hearty and they had some pretty silly stuff right away in the PHB so we haven't seen any real creep yet. It also helps...

    D&D 5E (2014) The impact of ASIs

The impact of certain ability scores aren't evenly distributed among the PC options. Some have practically zero regard(moon druids) while others are all in(artificer). Most falls somewhere in the middle meaning as long as you are somewhere in the curve for relative scores you'll be ok one way...
