D&D 5E (2014) Should healing magic be based on HD or not?

Honestly I haven't had much issues with players remembering my house rules because they are on the back of my screen and the majority of them are simplifying or making interactions better for them.

D&D 5E (2014) Should healing magic be based on HD or not?

Finally found my notes.I'm an extremely organized person when I have to move and I still can't find anything Homebrewed rules for alternative use of HDs: Artificer can spend hit die to replenish charges in magic items. They must roll a 10 or higher with the die + intelligence modifier per...

D&D 5E (2014) Should healing magic be based on HD or not?

Alternatively if you wanted to add some 4e type healing you could add in some form of HD recovery on SR or free uses once a day to give them more without making the pool deeper. I'd be curious to see what percentage of tables burn through HD on a regular basis.

D&D 5E (2014) Can Wither and Bloom heal someone who is downed?

Probably why they changed the wild magic barb that had a similar mechanic as well.

D&D 5E (2014) Should healing magic be based on HD or not?

I'm working on a mixed approach to revamp healing. I wouldn't necessarily it directly to the hit die but I would allow certain classes to spend their owns HD when a healing effect is applied to enhance it.

D&D 5E (2014) Can Wither and Bloom heal someone who is downed?

I don't mind it actually. I've always thought most healing should be based on HD size to give them more importance.

D&D 5E (2014) Can Wither and Bloom heal someone who is downed?

By my reading it would be just HD + caster mod unless they have something specific that applies to the HD.

D&D 5E (2014) Silvery Barbs and Fey Touched

I had the same reading the first time I read those feats. Didn't catch it until I did a second pass. Poor editing choice. I think in the end the inclusion of this spell on this feat doesn't weaken it and it wasn't exactly in a bad spot to begin with. A half feat that practically gives you two...

D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Archer is underated due to grasping arrow

You can't trigger the grasping arrows movement damage more than once per turn so you can't get more than the 2d6 each one regardless of times they are moved.

D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Archer is underated due to grasping arrow

But it's 2 per SR until lv 15 and can only hit one arrow per turn max and if you use it again the first one disappears. You can't even use it on two different targets at once even if you take 2 turn to do it. Then on top of that unless the 10ft movement penalty prevents them from reaching...

D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Archer is underated due to grasping arrow

The issue is it's limited to once per turn max unlike something like spike growth that has a massive ceiling for damage or ensnaring strike that has the restrainded condition on it which is both a better debuff and buff for damage. It's good but at once per SR it's not enough to move it out of...

D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Archer is underated due to grasping arrow

For "Balance" reasons really. If anything AO shouldn't be triggered when moving away to begin with seeing how that is the hardest time to land a meaningful strike on someone unless they are moving into the arch of threat from a reach weapon but for all weapons but lances it doesn't matter.

D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Archer is underated due to grasping arrow

Forced movement should work based on the wording. Compare it to to BB that uses the language to differentiate willing/unwilling movement. Same with all the other blender effects like spike growth, cloud of daggers, wall of fire, and so on. It's noticable worse than a lot of those even with the...

D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Archer is underated due to grasping arrow

By and large AA is fine mechanically it just fails to fulfill it's thematic niche and is uneventful in play. Coupled with race limit, slight MaDness, weapon choice limits, and slow progression it just comes across and miss aligned with the rest of the archer fighter options. Grasping is a neat...

D&D 5E (2014) Silvery Barbs and Fey Touched

And it gets better the higher your AC is sitting at and it's sharable which makes it tempting for those wanting more party wide mitigation/ buffing. If all it did was work on attack rolls it's would be still be in the running for the top pick for fey touched.

D&D 5E (2014) Silvery Barbs and Fey Touched

You should only be rolling dice for ability checks when they matter and if we are talking about non casters then guidance isn't free and it cost concentration.

D&D 5E (2014) Silvery Barbs and Fey Touched

Depends. HM is a damage increase where barb is a catchall reaction that can be universally applied. Even at once per day it's a strong contender for fey touched which also grants mobility and a stat bump. Changing the school that it's in it's probably the easiest way to bring the spell back in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Rime's Binding Ice OP?

It's a good spell and almost a straight up side grade for shatter so it probably fine. Oddly a decent single target spell as a potential action denial type spell but mind whip is probably better for that and scales better. I tend to rate action denial pretty high up as debuffs go and for some...

D&D 5E (2014) Silvery Barbs, how would you fix it? Does it need fixing?

It is added on The Bard spell list as well who don't gain access to shield or absorb elements so for them it is the de facto defensive first level spell. Not that it's a bad thing just something to note.
