D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

I never liked the idea of truly nuetral people. That's why I always run druidic orders in 3 (the magic number). ng the shepards, NE the dark druids, nature's wrath, and N the balance between the two where you'll usually have the Heirophant in charge. Maintaining nature's balance leaves...

Worlds of Design: A Worthy End?

combat are simply speedbumps on the way to achieving goals in our games. An important part of the game yes. but the point of the game not even close.

D&D General Does D&D (and RPGs in general) Need Edition Resets?

the Unkillable thing depends on the mythos and tends to become assumed because of modern religions. but even in the Mythos's where gods are unkillable they can be defeated and imprisoned. so Unkillable doesn't really mean undefeatable. But I have yet to see a video game that has the depth...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

I'd The original celtic druid didn't know about undead. The 1st edition celtic druid was all about Life and death. Not Undeath. this is an incredibly amount of energy to twist that completely opposite it's intended role. A 1st edition druid could kill anyone, ressurrect anyone and still be...

D&D General WotC Founder Peter Adkison On Hasbro's Layoffs

Problem is if there isn't enough work to keep two or more people busy a lot of companies cut down to one and it's great till that guy goes on vacation or get's a new job. Pretty common situation in IT at least.

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

are you really trying to tell me most 1st ed, 2nd ed and 3rd ed players are playing on roll 20? I'm not sure you made any point or actually said anything with this. except that there are still measurable percentages of of pre internet versions of D&D being played on a website. Which doesn't...

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

still a lot of interest in 1st edition, 2nd edition, and 3rd edition. I think most people that play just play what they started with or liked most. Not sure changing the rules does anything but fragment the player base even more.

For dungeon crawls and similar games I imagine they kick ass.

No arguments there. I find VTT to add very little to the game and takes a lot more time to prep.

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

My original point was they'd be better off focusing on making money with media and just locking the rules down like all the other HASBRO games. Then in a few years they could release D&D Modern edition, or D&D Cyberpunk edition, just like they do with monopoly. Just enough here and there...

D&D General Does D&D (and RPGs in general) Need Edition Resets?

I never said desire to be dependent of third-party website. I said ability to have content offline when said website inevitably doesn't work. D&D paper just works. it better be the same online or no dollars get spent.

    rewatching Lord of the Rings

I don't think LOTR is perfect but I think it's closer to the source material than i ever thought anyone would be able to do for technical and movie production reasons. I do agree the later scenes, for me it's how they minimize Gandalf the white spending weeks fending off the Nazgul and make it...

what they need is the ability to add customized abilities so that DM can create custom abilities and make them available to the characters.

but can he burn the city underwater? Scientifically the answer is an unqualified yes, but still not a good image to try and sell to an audience that I'm going to Burn the underwater city......Gotta go 100% in with Deset on this one.

And sales showed it. But it wasn't a total failure and for the first time a D&D move didn't shut down all chance of a sequel just by existing.
