Odd Subdual Question (my players stay out)

I don't see why the aristocrat can't just hire them like a normal NPC to do the mission without beating them into submission. If the guard carry a note from the aristocrat the PCs will come willingly. Your players will want to kill the aristocrat at the earliest opportunity if brought in by...

    Shield Spell, target: you

Its worded like that so you can't have a potion of shield.

    Feats for bards...

Split fighter/bard if you are going dragon disciple for the best attacking. Use a spiked chain for best range. Otherwise, take exotic weapon mercurial longsword. You get x4 critical now and 2d6 damage when you become large. Combat Reflexes will come in handy when you are Large And In Charge...

Please rate Monkey Grip [2002 Thread]

Wouldn't that be -8 penalty because you are using monkey grip twice at -2 each time plus the -4 for TWF if you have ambidex as well? As has already been stated, it is statisically better to use a normal sized weapon and power attack in any case. 2.5 avg damage increase vs 4 avg damage increase...

Price an item that knows when you drop...

A few points: 1) It doesn't matter what order powers/spells are added to an item. The highest one is normal price and the additional ones are doubled. 2) Ring of regeneration completely heals someone from 0 to full in a number of hours equal to their average hp per level. Lvl 10 wizard with 50...

    Deepwood Sniper "Keen Edge"

Just restrict the prestige class to rangers or paladins only and full spellcaster progression isn't a problem. Full progression is really only half progression when your caster level is half your level. If a prestige class has spell progression what is the ranger or paladin giving up?

    The Crazy Craft Skill

More complicated items cost substantially more. A 300 gc item with a dc of 30 still takes longer than an item with a dc of 15 that costs 10 gc.

Price an item that knows when you drop...

Considering a vest of false life costs 10k, I don't think 1500 is a reasonable price. It would be the new must have magic item at that price.

    Arcane lord info.

I don't remember Arcane Lord being in 297, it wasn't under Class Acts anyway. 293 was the Nightsong something and so was the issue before or after. It certainly didn't make much of an impression on me because I don't remember it at all.

    Magic Item $ and ...

I think 9500 is awfully high for this item. I think 2500 is in the area of reasonable. 500 for the tracking bonus and how much is +1 vs a small subset of creatures worth? 2000 is what it costs for a +1 weapon and that's good against everything but this item is stackable but then again its so...

Please rate Monkey Grip [2002 Thread]

Bah, people voted 7 because it had the word cool in it. If 1 was no one should take this feat and its cool then everyone would be voting 1 instead.

    half-dragon ECL

That half force dragon at ECL 12 seems like a good deal. +20 str and +14 to everything but dex. +14 natural armor. It just boggles the mind. You'd have to have 6 character levels before the +14 con bonus caught your hp up but beyond that you'd be golden. +10 deflection bonus on top of +14...

    Hold the Line--worth it?

Unless you had spring attack you'd be generating an AoO on yourself with that maneuver.

    Ride-By Attack Clarifications

The sage is wrong less than 1% of the time but everytime he makes a mistake people trumpet it forever. Accept that ride-by-attack doesn't provoke an AoO for the mount. It has no purpose as a feat otherwise.

free spells from level up even after death?

The losing your highest level was only supposed to be used if you somehow "forgot" what your most recent level advancement was. I would rule that the wizard gets 2 spells for free every time he gains a wizard level from advancement whether or not he has had that level before. He doesn't forget...

    Involuntary movement = AoO?

I always ruled great throw as effectively teleporting someone from one square to another. They do not trigger any AoO. Great throw is powerful on its own. Bull rush and shield bash do trigger AoO. They don't have nearly the utility otherwise.

For those with MM2 What do you think of Greater Wounding?

I'm in the "wounding is worthless as a +1 power" camp. One lousy mass stabilize (2nd level) or even a cure minor (0 level)ends the effect of all the woundings. Greater wounding is like burst weapons as a +2 power. Just ever so slightly above +1 (like 1.06) but nowhere near +2. Greater wounding...

    DotF magic item questions

Neverwinter nights has permanent haste items and they are disprortionately cheap as well. Regeneration, one of the least useful powers in that game is rated the highest when it is only that good in tabletop. I guess most designers don't see how permanent haste is one of the most powerful...

    Stabilizaton at "end of round"

I guess if you have a low initiative, -9 hp is pretty much the same as -10. You could even have a high initiative and the enemy go last in the round and you'd be stuck. A kind DM would have any enemies going after the last player refocus and start at the top of the round. The moral of this story...

Has ENWorld made your gaming better?

EN World is the place to hear the latest news and has the most active message boards. If you can't find it here, you can't find it anywhere. I used to like the d20 reviews section more but now that there is heavy censorship its hard to get a good range on opinions any more. You never know what...
