Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

“Reduce the light. Someone should go check that out.” Even though nobody adjusted the lantern, the light did, indeed, dwindle at Morgan’s command.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranged Builds Thread

I'm doing this but using a whip for my smites. Keeps the distance and it has the slow property and can sneak attack. Useful for when people get close. Swap to a hand crossbow.

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

I’m being influenced by the pbp nature of the game. I made two suggestions and then went along with the first person to choose an option. Having too much debate takes weeks of real time. If I had my way, we’d camp here, keep Isteval safe and have the sneaky ones go ahead and scout. But at...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

“Sounds good” With a flick of his wrist and a single arcane word, Isteval's lantern flared up, lighting everything around them. While he didn't think it was the safest plan, he couldn't help but snap his fingers along to Tommi's merry tune. Besides...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

"Sir Isteval, I can brighten your lantern so the light extends further but, you're correct, it will be easier for us to be spotted1. I should let you all know that, as I've alluded, I can make a magically secure shelter for us for the evening.2 But it's...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

Yeah, I'm a fan of narratively appropriate rests as well and I also feel that it makes more sense to wait until we settle in. But it never hurts to ask, right? :) I assume, once we are an hour into our long rest, I can swap my spells, etc..? I won't start my Long Rest until later.

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

@FitzTheRuke So, looks like nobody needs a short rest. Is it possible for Morgan to get one during all the chatting and stuff? I forget if you do 15 minute rests or 1 hour rests. If it's a 1 hour short rest, I'll take it at the end of the day by tagging it to the beginning of my Long Rest...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

@Kobold Stew @Neurotic @MetaVoid @VLAD the Destroyer @Leatherhead I kind of posted the same stuff IC: Option: 1. Head south a bit, go off the road, camp and short rest. Once we have a base, we can scout a bit...but it will be dark. What do you think??? I have Arcane Eye but it's not useful...

eBook Prices - Is it just me…

Because they’ve only paid for the rights to x amount of copies, I imagine.

eBook Prices - Is it just me…

You can get e-books through your local library. My daughter does all her reading on an e-reader and doesn't pay for them, she just 'borrows' them from the library. The down side is the time-limit to read it and the wait-list. Sometimes years for some books.

“So, you figured they could be bribed? We still have that drugar chest we could open. Might be something valuable in it we could trade for Sephek?”

How long before you tire of a thread here?

I stay engaged if: the topic is educating me on something I’m interested in. So, sparring over a specific rulesy thing can be good if the debate is showing two sides and constantly bring in new evidence to show specific points of view. someone asks for a creative outlook on a problem and the...

D&D 5E (2024) What medievalesque skill name do you prefer, for machinery, architecture, math, physics?

There are so many branches of engineering and it covers math and physics and chemistry and uses many branches of science. I’d originally chosen mechanics until I saw engineering. Engineering also covers mechanics.

Do Shorter Lists Make Players/GMs More Creative?

Double post: creative and new spells in D&D I find most invented spells in D&D, because the rules for creating spells are not well defined, is just a venue for power creep.

Do Shorter Lists Make Players/GMs More Creative?

I’m fine with short lists as samples but having a good foundation on how to create your own is necessary. A point system for powers (or a gp cost system) for making magic items would work. Honestly, my favorite spell system was Dresden Files. Spells were based on the Power of the spell which...
