    D&D General Do THIS, WotC!

Not to go too far off-topic...but thwt us essentially what the upcoming Plotweaver system from Brotherwise Games is doing, starting with the Stormlight Archives RPG (with Mistborn and generic Fantasy versions in the pipeline): basically takes the 5E Skill system and it's math, and makes...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

I really wouldn't read too much into the Beyond marketing copy: they said a lot of things in the run up to the Cpre books that was blown out of proportion and didn't end up being that way (there was some kerfuffle where some muckraker or other was making a stink that WotC was encouraging hostile...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Yeah, but they don't even need thwt: the PHB guidance on how to use older Backgroudns suffices.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Yeah, just not sure if they will bother to update it considering the changes to the Houses and to the Backgrounds system...and their active upsetting of Riaing from the Last War. The old Background is usable with the PHB rules as is. Yup: Half-Elves renamed, Kalashtar, Shifters, and Changelings.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Right, but the generic Background "House Agent" doesn't them really need an update, since the Dragonmarks are now backgrounds. I dunno, I just expect it well might not to be there.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Maybe: but they aren't reprinting the Sragonmarl Spwcies options. Given the total reworking of Dragonmarks, I wouldn't expect it necessarily.

    D&D General Do THIS, WotC!

It wasn't fans that turned off, as I recall: they found thst general audiences were confused and didn't like it, same as the confusion gwnerated by "Player's Handbook II" or "Dungeon Master's Guide II". The only people who like it seem to be those nostalgia already for the specifics of the early...

Good call on Archeologist and Magewright. I would actually assume they won't update House Agent, since they are specifically bundling Rising from the Last War with this book.

True, but I think feeling excited and dubious here at the same time wouldn't be crazy. Room for both emotions.

Dungeons & Dragons Shifts to Franchise Model, Dan Ayoub Named as Head

And I mean, it's not like Descent into Aver us went out of print: hack, they gave away the Gazateer for Baldur's Gate (which is chonky) for free on Beyond when the game did finally release in full.

Reject false dichotomies! Though with James Wyatt still apparently involved, I feel fairly excited.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Well, yes, they said in the Wberron UA thwt each Dragonmark Feat was goijg to be the Origin Feat for a Baclground. Of the 28 Feats tested (of which it seems all got in), thst is 13 Origin Feats, for 12 Houses and Abberants.

D&D General More details on what to expect from the Player's Guide to the Forgotten Realms from Polygon, Massive Amount of Spells & Feats

Yeah, I would not expect anything much outside of Faerûn. As it is, it will be an impressive feat if Faerûn gets good detail across the board, which I think it might juat achieve.

I am curious what the 4 Backgrounds that are not the Dragonmarks end up being: Journalist, Last War Veteran...?

    D&D General Do THIS, WotC!

No...they are actually making a Lorwyn D&D book. They announced that a few months ago at Magic Con. No joke, that is actually happening.

    D&D General Do THIS, WotC!

They were apparently considering doing that in 2014, with the plan being to label the Core books as "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons"...but discovered during market research that it was a major turn off and people didn't like the idea. The Basic/Advanced framework probably was always a terrible...

    They...are making a Lorwyn book...?

D&D General More details on what to expect from the Player's Guide to the Forgotten Realms from Polygon, Massive Amount of Spells & Feats

Calimshan never had quite as much baggage as Kara-Tur or Al-Quadim. But, yes, it is an interesting exercise in brining in some less Western Europe-y settings.

Dungeons & Dragons Shifts to Franchise Model, Dan Ayoub Named as Head

BG1 and 2 were relative hits. They were successful for CRPGs. BG3 is a breakout phenomenon.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a return to Kara-Tur eventually...but yeah, that will be it’s own thing when it is.
