Random encounters when travelling. Is there a better way? Do you use 'em?

In D&D 3E it seems a forgone conclusion that you'll have a monstrous encounter every day when you go travelling. If the chance of encounter is 5-10% per hour and there's 24 hours in a day, then you're gonna come across some beastie. Not to mention, that rolling percentiles 24 times per day is...

    Players not speaking in character

Yes, I think the new guy's Scottish accent will die soon. He actually was caught out NOT using it once during the first session while supposedly speaking IC. Also, you're all right about the jokes made by other players about another's accent. I found that during the first session: the other...

    Players not speaking in character

I notice that my players very rarely speak in a distinctive character "voice". I noticed it with such contrast when a new player joined and he started playing a PC with a Scottish accent. With this accent, I could always identify when he was speaking in character. This is important for me...

What would a medieval fantasy world (like GH or FR) be like in the far future?

There was one difference in FR's Arcane Age: Netheril 2E AD&D product line: It was 1E AD&D!!!!!!!!! Yes, in the appendix, they gave you all the rules to play 1E in this 2E product! Remember, the Time of Troubles ushered in the 2E rules. Everything before then was 1E. Similarly for GH, the...

What would a medieval fantasy world (like GH or FR) be like in the far future?

Almost any chump can cast magic in D&D. All you need is a 10 INT and you can cast a devestating Magic Missile!

What would a medieval fantasy world (like GH or FR) be like in the far future?

Indeed, in the '83 GH boxed set, it says magic is fading in the world. That's what made me wonder if GH would be dead magic. Maybe it'd be like Warhammer 40K. I don't think there's magic in that, but there are orcs and elves and psionics.

Will my PC be bent over and violated like in the old edition? See thread The DM violated my PC

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

That's an excellent solution! I should have done just that! Unfortunately, now, I've lost my chance because the "charm" has warn off. I'll keep this in mind in the future. ;)

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

This would make me just as bad as them. . . . Although I have fantasized. I fantasized about drugging them and taking them to a Chaos surgeon to give them dispicable grafts. Or, give them over to a *really* evil cult to perform acts of perversity on their bodies that you wouldn't wish on your...

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

The other PCs had been trying to secretly convert me for sometime. He gave in to them. He also had to deal with my PC being the "odd one out". So I guess the answer is: Yes. A made up divinely powerful spell. Its was actually laced into a book my PC was reading. Not sure on the details...

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

I actually kinda did something like this when I was first "turned" to Chaos. You see, I was so upset about what happened but kept quiet . . . anyway, on our adventure at the time, we came across a child (a lone survivor from an orc raid). Now, the other PCs proceeded to conduct some ritual to...

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

. Yes, it is. The DM has taken some liberties here. He says Tzentch isn't Chaotic Evil, but more Chaotic Neutral. Nevertheless, this does not excuse the other players having their wicked way with me. My steadfast, dwarf is now traumatised . . . he hated Chaos so much and for a while became a...

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

I know what you mean. With this same group (before I joined them) apparently one PC sodomised another PC! The culprit was a secret worship of the Chaos god Slaanesh and like to have his way with people. He drugged another PC and bent him over (no metaphor here)

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

I've been gaming with this group for 5 years. They're actually good people. I think it was the DM who let this get out of hand, really. I've talked with him; said my character was (spiritually) raped and will never be the same. He said I was over reacting and I left it at that. It's now 2...

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

The characters all started as "typical" PCs. An adventuring band that was Neutral on the alignment scale. All the other PCs had lot's of schemes behind the scenes, however. I never guessed they were all Chaos-worshippers, though! It was a diabolical secret that went for several sessions...

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

It was deity level magic invoked by the other PCs. It was the DMs arbitrary decision. The other players are actually OK. I blame the DM here for allowing this to affect my PC in such a drastic way.

The DM did IMPURE things to my PC!

I'm playing a dwarf rogue. He hates Chaos Spawn and mutations and warpstone and feels more comfortable with the solid earth and real tangible things. Sure, he's not Lawful, but he doesn't like "unnatural" things and abominations that disrupt the way the world works. Nevertheless, little did I...

What would a medieval fantasy world (like GH or FR) be like in the far future?

I was thinking about my Greyhawk campaign and just wondering what the world would be like in the far, far future. Would it be a sci-fi/fantasy setting? Would it just be a sci-fi setting because magic has faded? Would it stay the same (caught in the perpetual whimsy of medieval swords & sorcery)...

    Warhammer RPG release schedule

Will there be a conversion to get your WFRP 2nd Ed PCs into Warhammer Fantasy Battles? How much are Games Workshop overseeing the creation of the 2nd Edition? I'm a little unclear on the relationship. Thanks.

What are Quest Spells? Is there a d20 version?

Quest Spells first appeared in the 2E Tome of Magic book, I believe. Now, I don't own that tome, but I do have a general idea of what these spells are. They are very powerful spells that require co-operative magic (ie. a few people working together). Is that right? I know in 3E you've got your...
