D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

I couldn't see a connection when I glanced over the wiki about this setting. It is an island divided up between the Knorr barbarians and Charonti necromancers. Can you please tell me a little more about the setting and how it would be suitable?

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

I've got some Scarred Lands 3E books. The setting is too normal, I think. It had a bit of a shake up 150 or so years ago but now goes about its business almost as a normal fantasy setting.

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

Oh, good. I wasn't sure how baked in it was. I would just want those ancestries to face Decay like any other creature on the world.

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

I did consider Dark Sun but a blistering hot desert world didn't seem Tharizdunny to me somehow. Maybe the EEE would work, though, as that entity is tied to Elemental Evil and Athas has a strong tie to the four elements. EEE has always been a front for Tharizdun to hide behind, though. I somehow...

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

At a glance I don't see the connection. Isn't it a normal fantasy setting? I notice Tharizdun is one of the deities, though...

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

I don't mind the magic and decay relationship in Broken Weave but the four races being tied to the elements (Dwarves are linked to fire, Elves to earth, Halflings to water, and Humans to wind) somehow seems a bit goofy for me.

D&D General Royal Mail D&D 50th Anniversary Stamps

I like them better than the US version. And some art pieces have been especially made for this set. When is the last time Wayne Reynold's art featured in a D&D book?

D&D General Legend of Drizzt dice set for FreeRPG Day.

I missed out on these and now they're being flogged on ebay for stupid prices...

Ars Magica To Get A New Edition

It looks pretty. I wonder how much such a deluxe book will be priced at. And will it supersede the standard version now available or is it more of a pretty book for the bookshelf, rather than everyone having a copy at the table? I'll check it out but think I might prefer to wait for 6th Edition...

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

Why were people like that back then? Were they just questionable people or a product of the times? For example, if I were born back then, would I be the same? Or would I think as I do now, ie. that everyone deserves equal respect regardless of gender, race, etc. and everyone has a place in...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Planet of the Apes, Castles & Crusades, Smörk Borg, and more

Coming from 3E, I'm stuck in the mindset that a DC is static in the world. So, if there's a lock to pick that is DC 19, then that is DC 19 no matter who comes along. It doesn't matter if they have more DEX or Levels or Prime or Secondary stats. I guess that would be your formula in reverse: Dex...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Planet of the Apes, Castles & Crusades, Smörk Borg, and more

How does a single DC work? Do classes still have primary (+6) and secondary (+2) attributes?

    D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Dungeon Master's Guide's Greyhawk Map

That's an interesting question... Was there any Greyhawk metaplot penned by Gygax in Dragon magazine articles or planned for publication? I think he was going to do a Bandit Lands supplement or something but I could be mistaken.

    Tell Me About DC20

It just hit $2mil. Apparently, a GM's Guide and Monster Manual is also coming out in later kickstarters to make up the holy trinity. I'd rather wait for all 3 core books to drop before investing in it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Dungeon Master's Guide's Greyhawk Map

It will be interesting to see the isometric map of the City of Greyhawk on the other side - ie. will it be the same angle-of-view and treatment as the old boxed set isometric map? Will it be the TSR City of Greyhawk map or the one from the Gord the Rogue novels? I always felt the map from the...

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

Tharizdun was trapped in an extra-dimensional prison until he is released by the assembled Theorparts in the Gord the Rogue series. I can't quite remember what happens to him at the end of the series - ie. is he imprisoned again, is he destroyed, etc? All I can remember is Oerth bites the dust...

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I’ve been slowly going through them… Darksun I did consider but I felt the burning desert wasteland and blistering sun didn’t feel like Tharizdun somehow. Stryxhaven and Jakandor? At a glance I couldn’t see the connection. Will have to take a second...

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

I’ve been looking for a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world taken over by Tharizdun. Some settings I’ve come across in my search: Midnight (Fantasy Flight Games) --> probably not suitable; this is more of a ‘what if’ Sauron won rather than a dark destructive god. Broken Weave...
