D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

I see a slow timeline advance as we’ve gone from 1485 to 1496. Individual adventures can be set any time they please, though. They might set one in the past in 1357, if they like. But if you ask someone what’s the current date in the Realms, they’ll say about 1496 DR. The setting hasn’t been...

D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

Here’s a list of official FR dates in 5E adventures: Out of the Abyss (1485 DR or later – perhaps end of 1486) Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat (1489 DR) Storm King’s Thunder (1490 or 1491 DR) Lost Mine of Phandelver (Starter Set) (1491 DR) Dragons of Stormwreck Isle (Starter Set)...

D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

It would be great if they give an explanation in the upcoming adventure. Sigil has been reset, too. Only the Realms is ticking forward as it should be.

D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

They've carefully considered the FR timeline up to this point. It just seems odd to have the other settings rebooted in a linked multiverse when FR isn't. You mention 5e Vecna is very different to the older Vecnas. What are some of the differences?

D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

They are one-off adventures so I guess they can set them in any time they please. This upcoming adventure is a plane-hopping one that jumps between the worlds, though, so it would be interesting to see what timeline they make Greyhawk and Dragonlance in relation to the Realms. If they reset...

D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

I wonder what year Greyhawk and Dragonlance will be set in. Back in the 2E era "D&D Multiverse", the timelines of the worlds pretty much kept up with each other year for year. The Realms has had a 100-year timeline advance, though. So, I'm interested to see where this places the timeline of...

    HârnWorld Interview: Republic of Tharda

Do the new kingdom hardcovers include fold-out maps? I think the original softcovers did.

Ars Magica To Get A New Edition

I own a hardcover of the 5th edition. I haven't had time to read it yet. I bought it because someone said Ars Magica represents the gold standard of magic systems.

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

There have been many “Printings” but they have still made changes to the rules over those printings from what I hear. An old Troll Lord Game's post sums up the Player’s Handbook “Printings": ---------- 1-3 printings: a barbarian which is basically a berserker, and an illusionist who's pretty...

Dragonlance Kaz The Minotaur Comes to 5e For His 35th Anniversary

What type of dragon is that on the cover of The Lost Colony? Looks like it's made of stone or something.

An Epic Journey Through the Multiverse: Legacy of Worlds and DDAL00-14 Proxy Hunt

The development of language is so complex that the Common Tongue would definitely be different on each world. You might be onto something about the aliens seeding the planets, though, because many of the D&D worlds have Earth-inspired cultures on them. For example, pick an Earth culture and it...

An Epic Journey Through the Multiverse: Legacy of Worlds and DDAL00-14 Proxy Hunt

How do adventurers communicate with people from the other worlds/settings? Their Common Tongue would have developed completely differently. Would it just be plenty of Comprehend Languages spells? Or is there a Multiversal Common Tongue?

D&D General Luke Gygax Brings Back Gary Gygax's Castle Zagyg

I wonder why they don't just do a Kickstarter to produce the full 7 volumes. I'm sure there would be sufficient interest. The titles that were meant to be released were: Castle Zagyg, Volume I: Yggsburgh Castle Zagyg, Volume II: The Upper Works Castle Zagyg, Volume III: The Dungeons Castle...

Thank you. I checked the Wayback Machine, too, and nothing came up. I might try over on another forum. Cheers.

    Where does True20 break?

Sorry to necro this thread, but I was wondering if anyone had access to the variant damage rules for True20 by Baduin ("Baduin's system") that are mentioned in this thread. There is a link in a post above that takes you to the old True20 forums but they don't exist anymore by the look of it -...

AD&D 2E Looking back at the Monstrous Compendia: the MC appendices, Monstrous Manual, and more!

MC1 and MC2 came out at the same time. So I always thought of it as a bit of a cash grab as the two felt like one book split in half. In fact, they were designed to be merged as one and I think there is a page at the start of MC2 that encouraged you to do so. The blurb on the back of the...
