As it was pointed out to me before here, I discovered rules that were in the 2014 DMG much faster and easier in the 2024 DMG, that alone (and particularly the art) were big reasons I upgraded. I do feel that the font size is larger and easier to read and overall the layout...

yes, I already knew this. I think we are talking about different things. Ultimately, what happens at my table is canon in my campaign, if I want to take inspiration from a 2e book or a 3e book in terms of lore that is canon. What TSR and WotC have published in official campaign books is canon...
