How long have you been gaming?

As expected that these forums don't jibe with the current demos of the game.

Critical Role To Critical Role or not...That is the question

So according to the yearly census info that WotC takes on DnD, the current majority of DnD gamers is 30 and under. I am curious if this is reflective of those who engage on this forum, or is it made up of a lot of old men yelling at clouds. I have been watching the 3rd campaign, mostly as...

Steal From The Vampires And Give To The Poor In Brinkwood

I snagged a copy based on the premise and it's quite cool. My only petty annoyance: I got PoD and the cover is slightly offcenter and it drives me nuts.

D&D 5E (2014) Homebrew monkey race balance question?

Just feels like they get too many things, imo. One of the dangers when designing a animal based pc race is the desire to give them every attribute we ascribe to the animal. This is not to say they are too powerful, as all told, their abilities are niche, quality of life kinda improvements. It's...

D&D 5E (2014) Suggestions about making crusher, piercer, and slasher full feats

I will say from experience that a Crit from Crusher is an encounter ender.

    D&D 5E (2014) Any cool Skill Challenges you've run in 5e?

A key plot point in a game I ran was the PCs having to successfully complete a unicorn's tax return.

M.A.R. Barker, author of Tekumel, also author of Neo-Nazi book?

Starship Troopers (The Film) is a scathing satire of Fascism. Unfortunately, it has the weakness of any satire: If people are into what you are mocking, the mockery may go completely over their heads.

M.A.R. Barker, author of Tekumel, also author of Neo-Nazi book?

As a professional, I have to take issue with this assumption. Most people assume they are much more media savvy than they actually are. Look how many people view Starship Troopers (the film) to be aspirational. Fascism is by design slick, stylish and seductive.

DMs Guild Celebrating Ravenloft's 40 Year Anniversary with Van Richten's Encyclopedia of Darklords & Domains

Looks amazing and very comprehensive. How well do they interact with the changes in Van Rechiten's?

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

In regards this not being Planescape, I understand the disappointment as someone who would like new Planescape materials. it does make me feel as if we are not getting any, as this "covers those bases" possibly. However. really what do I need new Planescape material to cover? In terms of fluff...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

Feels like a good entry lvl product, especially for new DMs, so while not for me, I am in favor of it.

    Non-binary population percentage?

Really what you need concern yourself with is NPCs that are either named or have a speaking roll. Demographics have their place but end up becoming background numerical noise. I have struggled with demographics regarding sentient races ins campaigns before, ie how many Elves, Dwarves, ect and it...

Is it just me? Tired of huge books

To clarify: I'm just talking about the size of singular books. Not a total page count of a game spread among multiple releases.

Is it just me? Tired of huge books

I'm well aware there is a variety of offered formats. I'm just speaking to huge books. Example. Coyote and Crow clocks in at nearly 500pgs. I am really drawn to the concepts and ethos of its creation but woof thats a big ol' book.

Is it just me? Tired of huge books

So I am all for value, and I can see the appeal of having all you need for a game in a single book. But am I the only person who finds that some of these honestly huge hardcovers, clocking in over 350pgs, are just too big? Like, too large to be practical? I know there are digital options, and I...

Critical Role Teases Upcoming Syndicult RPG

The premise is intriguing. I do like games to have a hook. Modern Fantasy? OK, but plenty of that out there. So havign this specific concept has potential.

M.A.R. Barker, author of Tekumel, also author of Neo-Nazi book?

It is larger than the scope of this discussion, but there is another reason why there is a need for open, vocal acknowledgement of these failing of Baker. Geek spaces have a under-addressed Fascism problem.
