[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [recruiting 1 player]

@Neurotic I think you have to post in order for us to continue. Do what you think is best. If you use poison, though, your character will have to keep that to himself. Edit: I should have read your post closer, I'll post IC

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Here is the text from daylight: “If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Darkness created by a spell of level 3 or lower, that other spell is dispelled.” So it is dispelled. But now that I read it, it says the OTHER spell is dispelled. darkness: If any of this spell’s area...

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Yeah, shouldn’t matter. From the description it just gets rid of the sections where it overlaps. So you’ll have the half crescents of daylight where the darkness neutralized it. Which I think persists even after darkness goes away?? The description says that section of the daylight is dispelled

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Okay, I just confirmed that upcasting changes the effective level of the spell. So an upcast darkness spell is considered 3rd level if cast from a 3rd level slot. It will, therefore, automatically dispel daylight in that area. It’s a very easy and reliable defense. You have at least two...

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Daylight as sunlight makes so much sense but it really does hose vampires. Despite buffing them. Darkness cast at 3rd level should automatically counter daylight, no? “If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Darkness created by a spell of level 3 or lower, that other spell is...

You didn’t screw up. they just turn to mist and fled only to return newly buffed and informed of the PCs abilities. Right? Right? Ps: I didn’t think daylight was true sunlight. Did that change in dnd2024? Edit. I just read the new version. Vampires are kind of screwed.

D&D General Read aloud text in modules: What are folks opinions about read aloud content?

Make it short, give the major details such as entrances, smells and major enemies if that’s the centre of an encounter. Leave the minute details out unless you are describing details of NPCs. I like it, especially when playing online, my dm will copy/paste it into the chat and let us read it...

D&D General Sandbox style: Rumors say a +1 sword is in a cave nearby. Go get it?

One of my DMs seeded a story about a great hero (which we could find out more about his deeds) who had lost his true love and committed suicide. His legendary armour was reputed to be at the bottom of the cliff under the water or in a cave accessible when the tide went down. If you could find...

[/B][/td] [/TR] [/TABLE] [/SPOILER] , We can buy horses when we get to the next town. Lady Shalendra, it might be more comfortable to get a room at the nearest inn while things blow over? Will you be joining us? He looks to the elf, wondering what she is planning. For his part, Morgan...

D&D General Sandbox style: Rumors say a +1 sword is in a cave nearby. Go get it?

To be fair, it’s nice if cool swords could be upgraded over time. How many first level characters start with their ‘great, great grandfather’s family sword’ only to ditch it for the first magical dagger that comes along. On the other hand, they can have lots of worth for future plots if the...

Look, strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Is the name of the sword, "+1 Sword"? Or is it called "Blood Sword Maximus!!!!" (the exclamation marks are actually inscribed on the sword) As a player, I'd be more willing to seek out a legendary sword with a cool backstory that has no magical properties than a boring +1 sword.

[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [recruiting 1 player]

Double post: one other thing I can think is Oskar can conjure 10 gallons of water. I'm not sure if that's enough to soak the dogs but a wet dog is prone to hypothermia and they would have to stick around and bring the dogs in to get them dry. But it's also not very subtle.

[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [recruiting 1 player]

I’d simplify it the guard thing, Have someone lead a guard somewhere. Meanwhile, someone else who is disguised breaks a window and makes like they are leaving a building or maybe simply doing a smash and grab in front of the guards. They see the guards and run, leading the guards to the Blue...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else dislike the "keyword" style language of 5.24?

I like it. It's annoying and confusing until you become well versed in all the conditions. 3.5 had lots of conditions and, after a while, you just learn the most common ones. I just wish they'd have chosen better words. The 'invisible' condition, for example is confusing when you're...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

Oh! I thought Delphen was teleporting us. I think Morgan can cast a scroll if they have one. Edit: confirmed. It’s Delphen who will teleport us. If we can get to his tower and avoid any trouble along the way, we could head out. Technically, he can teleport us from here if he wants.

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

@Kobold Stew I'll leave it up to you if you want to send Oh-Six. He's pretty useful as a scout. I'm hoping we can get some potions of Protection from Evil so Floshin is protected. There isn't much Morgan can do without revamping the entire plan. I also can't think of a way to prevent Ashfell...
