Fabula Ultima Offers A Good Beginning To A Final Fantasy

I think the notion that checks are two difficult is true, but there's an important but to that statement that makes me okay with it: Fabula Points. Fabula Points and their use is the central mechanic to driving play forward. They are as important to the game as Fate Points are in Fate. In fact...

Ravenloft: Heir of Strahd Cover, Synopsis Revealed

Well that was simply dreadful, so it does have that part of Ravenloft down pat. Like others have said, I am so not the core demographic for the game anymore. And that's too bad because a new novel for Ravenloft is something I would be really interested in.

The Legend of Vox Machina Renewed for Fourth Season

Based on his Avatar, I'm assuming it's about the Critical Drinker's term. That's why I don't use it here, and that's all I'll say about it.

    Eric Noah's 3rd Edition Website

Being in the city where it all started, I have been here a while. I met Eric once when I was in my Internet Warrior stage and he was still very nice to me.

Dungeons & Dragons Has Done Away With the Adventuring Day

I think this is why it's really not the default for D&D. I've experimented as well with my groups. Some of them love it, and others (even very experienced players) hated it with the intensity of 10000 suns. It's very group specific.

    D&D 5E (2024) Treantmonk's Warlock EB DPR video

It is really interesting to me to examine the Warlock. I play in a game where we hit 15th level at the last break and there is a Warlock in the group. We actually transitioned from 3.5E to 5E and he was one of two characters who made the transition. The player pretty much spams Eldritch Blasts...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

Yes, that's correct. I had it recommended to me as a tale about a paladin years ago. It starts out what I would call YA style but it goes very dark. I was surprised by that.

Chris Perkins and James Wyatt Answer Burning Questions About the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

Exactly this. Make the rests easy to do, but also limit the numbers. One of the things I like about 13th Age is how it limits how often Long Rests happen in a way that seems natural. When we ran it, players really liked how they just knew how Rests were going to work.

Chris Perkins and James Wyatt Answer Burning Questions About the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

Definitely. This especially affects classes that have resources that reset on a Short Rest. In our high level campaign, we have a player with a Warlock, and it seems like I'm the only one who keeps asking "hey, how are your spell slots? Should we short rest?" I'm a Wizard, so I just want one...

Chris Perkins and James Wyatt Answer Burning Questions About the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I'm wondering if they're removing the idea of "the period of time between long rests" which people call an Adventuring Day, or removing the assistance on 6-8 encounters during that period. I have said many times that the 6-8 encounters during a "day" is a terrible idea, especially at low...

The Legend of Vox Machina Renewed for Fourth Season

I know you were saying this to be funny, but in all honesty, this is the easy part. WotC doesn't have someone to write, produce, and act in the way that the CR staff does. That's the hard part. Matt is an exceptional DM, writer, and actor. That's not something easy to find. Could WotC find...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

Yes, that makes perfect sense. I think my point was for some of the more interesting backgrounds, it's just the DM's role to work that into the game when it's appropriate. The tea ceremony is unlikely to be used when fighting the Bloodsack Tribe of orcs. Although it might be interesting if it...

The Legend of Vox Machina Renewed for Fourth Season

I think it's not too hard to crack the code on why CR is more successful. You have some of the most talented voice actors around, and Matt Mercer as the DM. I haven't seen anyone working at WotC with those credentials. And beyond that, do they have anyone working there who writes the way the CR...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

I'm not sure if you're trying to say you can't do this or you shouldn't do this. If it's can't, I can assure you that you can do this without slowing the game down. When you as the DM are starting to describe a scene, you just throw in what the players know outside of the pure physical...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

I'm not sure how much I can simplify it, but I'll try. A character has parts to it that talk about who they are in the world. The Noble background means they are some sort of noble in the game's society. A Sailor has been to sea on a ship and not capsized it. Those backgrounds mean they know...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

This is such a good point. There's so much info about the world that a character actually living in it would know that it just amazes me that the DM doesn't talk about or provide. I'm not talking about constant information dumps, but in the part of the game where the DM describes the situation...

    D&D 5E (2024) Treantmonk's Ranger DPS video:

After watching this video, it seems like Rangers are definitely not doing much single target damage. The question is, do their other abilities make up for it? I play spellcasters and I don't have any expectation of doing a ton of single target damage ... but I make up for it. Where do Rangers...

Hasbro Hit With Layoffs, Wizards of the Coast Impacted

I wasn't saying that everyone loves 5.5E, I'm just thinking that everyone here loves some version of D&D. Even the people who are playing a totally different version love the game that, well, they love. Otherwise I can't think of a reason to be on Enworld. I'm not a current WotC fan, but I still...

Hasbro Hit With Layoffs, Wizards of the Coast Impacted

Oh sure they would. If it's like most deals, they got half of what I paid. And that's why it was smart because it would have been $0 otherwise. I suspect I'll buy the other core books from them too. I really like what the Foundry Devs have done so far and I want to keep them making products. I'm...

Hasbro Hit With Layoffs, Wizards of the Coast Impacted

I think you have a very good point here. I honestly haven't liked a lot of things WotC has done and I'm not purchasing their products from them as a result. What I am doing is supporting the Foundry team by purchasing their products. I guess that's the point where I find myself comfortable. If...
