Two-blades ranger with two bastards - kosher?

I did. I also said its a matter of interpreting. HP does not have a direct correlation with wounds, only with the ability and will to stay alive. I think fighting with minor wounds that are bandaged and covered in blood is cool. with a cleaver dm, this can make for some funny encounters. I don't...

Two-blades ranger with two bastards - kosher?

In 4e the game can be very different depending on how the flavor is interpreted. parts that can be made better or more realistic, should be as long as it is not at the expense of the rules. Parts that have no historical precedent like magic really cant be criticized in a historical manor. Magic...

Two-blades ranger with two bastards - kosher?

This is true, and false. It is a solid book about sword combat in 1410, but theirs other books, notably by Liechtenauer's students. The Flower of Battle is focused on Italian sword fighting while Liechtenauer's work is based on Germanic sword fighting (KDF). Both used similar swords but they...

Two-blades ranger with two bastards - kosher?

To be fair, I recall saying dual wielding bastard swords would be ok rules wise, I am just saying personally its a bit silly. *edit* I encourage everyone to try it sometime. Its an eye opening experience Their is no precedent of one shooting magic missiles so theirs really nothing to criticized...

Two-blades ranger with two bastards - kosher?

I mostly more or less agree. I think a claymore and zweihander are about the same size though (in real life), as zweihander just means two hander. awhile ago i heard about a sword called a zweihander that was so big it required two swordsmen to wield and it was used against cavalry, although i...

Two-blades ranger with two bastards - kosher?

while 3-4 pounds may seem light, They really only are usable with two hands. I think in real life (and sometimes even in cinema) its pretty silly to see someone that could wield two bastard swords or longswords. I used to be ok with the idea, but after a year of sword fighting with a two handed...

    Where is the Barbarian?

Perhaps because people want to play a character in a loin cloth and still be effective? that why i would want to have a separation at least. Theirs also the whole rage thing... but i think that's only a minor concern. The loin cloth issue is obviously the more important problem with fighters...

Versatile Weapons - am I reading it correct?

raw i think its unclear. I had read someplace that the designers intended it to effectively be a two handed weapon when wielded with two hands. I don't have the link or the reference though, But i remember one of the designers, i think it was Andy or James, posted here on enworld about it...

    Comparisions between classes

I think Twin strike is deceptively weak against a single target at first level. Its good against minions, but nimble strike or a basic attack is better. This is assuming your are an elf and put an 18 in dex which then becomes a 20, and you have weapon focus or the feat that improves hunters...

    Comparisions between classes

my experience with 4e Ranged Ranger is that at level 1, they do as much damage as rogue if not more, yet have a higher armor class and get attacked less if they are not directly in combat. So far the rogue has taken alot of hits and gone down once or twice, while i don't think my ranger has even...

D&D 4E Alas, poor Raknor - List your character deaths in 4e so far!

so far no deaths in my group, although alot of close calls. has anyone had a ranged ranger die? They seem to be one of most survivable out of all the classes.

    Greatsword, not Bastard Sword

I think balance wise its not a good idea, but a great sword is an amazing way to defend ones self. Its practically a shield, all you need to do is keep your point on line and i think people would be amazed at the actual defense a large sword can provide. This is assuming you don't do something...

Are all elements balanced with eachother?

In regards to wizards is it balanced to allow their spells to be any type the player wants as long as its picked when the character learns the spell? My problem is the 4e is a bleak list of spells for someone who wants to specialize (unless its ice) Are the ice feats balance to allow it to...

Necromancer Games NOT going with current GSL.

Bingo. How do you change 4e to feel like 3.5 without redefining anything? I said before in another thread a week ago that I wondered how Clark was going to do it, now i know...

Necromancer Games NOT going with current GSL.

I played hero quest with a friend and thought it was really exciting. At that time I was around 10, and games like DragonQuest where out on the nes those were alot of fun. I was introduced to d&d via popular culture and games and have been wanting to play for a while. I then started playing 3.5...

Necromancer Games NOT going with current GSL.

If I was making my own rpg, I would be wanting clarification on what constitutes a redefinition under the srd. As i see it, one cant redefine the rules already in place, so really the only thing you can do with the gsl is make new races, monsters, and adventures but these rules cant superseede...

    Small Characters and Weapons

my take? a scimitar is a one handed weapon in real life and a longsword is a two handed weapon... sorry just being difficult. most likely its just a balance issue. I just ignore the names of weapons anyway and imagine the weapon to look whatever I like.
