This sounds really interesting. Can you tease us a little more with some details?

    Life shaped items?

Check out the Life Shaping Handbook from athas.org, for Dark Sun 3.5. It should cover what you need.

    Critical Hit Decks/Charts - I don't like 'em

In my current AD&D game, we use a very basic system. A natural 20 is maximum damage. That's all. No other special game-breaking effects. If you roll a natural 20 on the hit roll, you don't need to roll for damage - just assume it's the maximum for whatever damage die you use. The only proviso is...

What is the most inspirational Gary Gygax quote?

"It is the spirit of the game, not the letter of the rules, which is important. Never hold to the letter written, nor allow some barracks room lawyer to force quotations from the rule book upon you, if it goes against the obvious intent of the game. As you hew the line with respect to conformity...

Best way to sell a HUGE gaming collection?

If it's dollar return you're after, Ebay is a good choice. Yes, there are fees, but if you take the time and effort (and it will take both), you can offload your collection a piece at a time and make decent returns. I recently sold off most of my third edition material and made double to...

Are there any red or pink demihuman/humanoid species in the D&D Multiverse?

Altanians and Alryans from the Wilderlands setting can have red skin. Lots of the human cultures in the Wilderlands have a variety of skin colours.

Who is the most well known character to you? (Conan, Drizzt, Elric, Geralt)

Never heard of Geralt. I know the other three (although I've never read any of the dark elf stuff). Elric is by far my favourite. Blood and souls.

I draw the occasional D&D map

These are great - that rooftop chase thing is totally getting used as soon as I can find a way to throw a PC out of a window.

Hard Sun - enforcing the law as the end of the world approaches

From the final scene of the final episode: I dunno what it's supposed to be. I thought it was meant to look like a black hole but there are plenty of reasons why that would be weird. Maybe something smaller? A Sphere of Annihilation, perhaps? ;) EDIT: Haha, snap :)

Hard Sun - enforcing the law as the end of the world approaches

We just finished bingeing it as well. I enjoyed it. I could have used a little more pre-apocalyptic fun and a little less police procedural, but the character's various arcs kept me engaged and made for compelling viewing and a strong story overall. Apparently it's intended to run for five...

    Do you have an FLGS?

I just discovered one near me last week. Niche Comics and Bookstore, on the High Street in Huntingdon. Only 10 minutes drive from my house! They've been there about five years. It's a small shop but the staff are really friendly and the guy who runs it is super-knowledgeable and happy to order...

So I'm backing a Kickstarter (for Torg Eternity) for the first time

I'm absurdly excited about the new Torg edition. I ran three campaigns back in the early 90s, and then managed something like three sessions over the next 25 years. I've got a game going again now - we're six weeks in and going strong. I always loved the crazy clashing realities of the game. My...

Need Dark Sun adventure for one shot

That link doesn't work for me, but below is a link to a 3e conversion I did a few years back for A Little Knowledge. Can't recall if this one was ever error-checked, though, but it should be decent enough :) https://www.dropbox.com/s/8njryndequa0c5l/A%20Little%20Knowledge.doc?dl=0

Need Dark Sun adventure for one shot

Any of the opening adventures from 2e would work well: A Little Knowledge, Year of Priest's Defiance, and Raiders of the Chanth can all be run in that amount of time and have simple, self-contained plots. Do you already have a Pathfinder or 3e version of Dark Sun to work with?

Vault of the Drow and Erelhei-Cinlu

Check out Dragon #298 and #300 for stuff on the Vault and its NPCs for 3e. Dragon 298 is stuffed with 3e drow goodness. The Vault also features in the 2e adventure "Dead Gods" - worth a look.

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

Oh, come on. It's a long book but it shouldn't take you that long to get through it... :D

Well, at those prices it has to be worth a look :)

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

At its best, the Dark Tower series is among the greatest fantasy stories ever told. Its height are that good. At its worst, it's laughable. And it sometimes swings between both extremes within a single book. The early books are generally excellent. The quality becomes more variable as the series...

World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness: What are you playing?

Mage: the Ascension. Long-running chronicle that we've been playing, on and off, since 1995.
