Best way to revitalize the economy of a town in D&D

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I've already requested the financial information on our expenditures from the DM, just waiting for them to come back. I'd like to keep our solutions on the up and up for the most part. We're generally good (with neutral tendencies), and actually want to help out...

Best way to revitalize the economy of a town in D&D

I'm in a game where the bard of our party just became lord of a city (long story, irrelevant). The rest of the party has taken up various positions of power (captain of the guard, court wizard, etc). It's a border town, on the edge of the northern wastelands and is occasionally under attack by...

Any suggestions for a new bard?

Here are my standard bard suggestions - Don't multiclass. Bards already have a little bit of everything, multiclassing takes away more than it gives (this doesn't necessarily apply to prestige classes, but in general I prefer straight bard to anything else). Don't spend feats on archery. Oh...

    Taking 9.. or 8, or 7....

Well, this has gone way off point, but that's fine by me. Let me put in my two cents about faking a low skill. Most of the things you're talking about are craft skills (except for the archery). For those, I think you can easily fake a low skill. It's easy to make a crappy pie - forget an...

"+1 to caster level" from two different sources - Do they stack?

Caster levels stack. They just do. If you want more detailed rules - they're unnammed bonuses, and unnamed bonuses always stack. -The Souljourner

    Taking 9.. or 8, or 7....

Nah, not talking about failing... you can obviously always choose to fail... just curious if anyone can think of a reason why you'd want to get a specifically lower result. -The Souljourner

    Taking 9.. or 8, or 7....

Is there ever a time when it would be advantageous to "take 9" (or any other number lower than 10) on a skill roll as opposed to taking 10? I'm really more curious than anything. This was brought on by the "take-10" thread that some people though meant "take -10". So... a challenge for you...

    Questions - Attacking while 'Blind'

Wow, chalk me up as one who never knew about the 5' step in darkness. Definitely makes sense that you can't move tactically like that... I just didn't know there was a rule about it. -The Souljourner

    SEAL character

I'd definitely go human, the feat and skillpoints are too critical to miss. I'd also definitely take rogue at 1st, too many skillpoints to miss. Don't take monk. The loss of a BAB will hurt, and you don't really gain much that works with the theme (the hand to hand attacks is about it, which...

Can a wand be used more than once per round?

*lol* sure, in real time :)

Can a wand be used more than once per round?

Guys, it really doesn't matter. If combat starts at 1pm and lasts 15 rounds, when combat is over, it's now 1:01:30. That's all the 6 second round really means. If we wanted to make it perfectly realistic, we probably could, but it would be impossible to adjudicate, and not fun for anyone...

Is Mystic Theurge a balanced P. class?

How can you not call the cleric/wizard multiclass horribly underpowered? Compared to a straight cleric you get +2 1st level spells, -1 3rd, -4 4th and -3 5th. That's insane. How is that more versatility? Sure, you're choosing from 2 spell lists, but you're missing 2 whole spell levels and 6...

Need some ideas for low level characters to instantaneously travel long distances...

Uh... buh.... No... umm.... Seriously though... yeah, hadn't thought of that. Still, I doubt you could make a horse drink a potion, so an oil would be the best way to go. -The Souljourner

Need some ideas for low level characters to instantaneously travel long distances...

Ok, here we go - Paladin 5/Sorcerer 1 Take a light warhorse as your mount, cast expeditious retreat on yourself and share the effect with your mount. It now moves 90. It has the run feat, and thus can run at 5x, making it 450 feet per round. 5280/450 = 12 rounds to get there. Not great...

Can a wand be used more than once per round?

With respect to how all the actions of a big fight fit into one 6 second round.... it's a game people. There are certain things you have to just accept as being fudged. This is one of them. We don't question that a barbarian with the run feat can run 22.7 miles an hour, but only as long as...

Can a wand be used more than once per round?

I think the two use rule is a good one. It fudges the time tables a little bit to enable one swap of an object, which seems pretty reasonable, but prevents ridiculous abuse like the line of wizards. In general, I doubt that more than two uses of an object would be a common occurance anyway...

    The Divine Oracle's Prescient Sense

I think you'd have to take it on a case by case basis. Honestly, I can't imagine this ever actually coming up in play. What character would want to take Divine Oracle and something that requires evasion? Sounds like a concept disconnect to me. -The Souljourner

    Bull Rushing into a Grapple

Dude, you spelled Somerville wrong :P I'm still not sure what you're asking, are you talking about a third party wanting to perform a bull rush on one of the participants of a grapple, a la the old "dive into someone to knock them off your friend who's pinned to the ground under them"? I guess...
