    Player/DM Issues: Please Help!

He should have given you a description of at least one of the monsters special abilities, probably more. The Knowledge skills are there for a reason.

    Worst 5th party member

I would agree with the Monk being the least useful fifth party member. He brings nothing to the table the other four characters cannot handle by themselves.

Why is it so hard to change a world?

I was reading the Midnight forums over at againsttheshadow.org, and noted a phoenemon I have seen several times before. Several of the DMs there were arguing that the Night Kings should basically be demigods who the PCs could never hope to confront. My question is, why? Why is it that no...

Teen Titans: Your thoughts and mine...

That link is not working. I remember reading a comic with them in it, though. Probably one of the funniest comics I have ever read, Ambush Bug got taken along (accidentally) to the future with Superman. I think the worst (funniest) names were, Technicolor Kid, Antennae Lad, and Infectious...

Kysthiwendor Lyyidelarnikoist Versus Lotus (Ariel Judging)

Kysthiwendor holds her side as her fresh wounds drip hot blood onto the raft. As the raft slides under the shadows of a nearby mountain range, Kysthiwendors eyes gleam like hot red pokers, and she snaps into sudden motion just as the remaining shards of her opponents chain come flying at her...

Kysthiwendor Lyyidelarnikoist Versus Lotus (Ariel Judging)

My apologies for not responding earlier, the post was showing the same amount of replies for the past two days until I clicked on it today. Before I post my move, I would like to object to the final description posted by Phoenix. This has been a great match, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it...

    Best 5th party member?

I would agree that another Cleric would be the best choice. Barring that, a Druid provides great spells, both combat and support wise, are decent in melee, and have a few nice special abilities to round them out.

Yes. I especially liked Ravens alter egos.

    Toning the Magic Down

I will second the recommendation of Midnight if you are looking for a more Tolkienesque feel to your game.

    Should Castles Even Exist?

Seriously, I was considering this after reading a recent post in the D&D Rules forum, as well as Buttercups post on border fortresses, and I have to wonder if castles or fortresses would be desirable or even feasible defensive structures to build. A single high level Cleric or Druid could rip...

    Siege problems with Power Attack

Even if the Barbarian or Fighter type could actually knock down walls in a few rounds, I fail to see the problem. A wall is a laughable barrier to mid and high level characters. Once they get to 10th or so everyone will just fly or teleport around the walls anyway. Sometimes I think the...

Metamorphosis: From Dretch to Demon Lord - Ascension Released!

I wonder if Gemnez is going to be the one who eventually destroys Pyrak. I would like to see Pyrak survive, but BLACKDIRGE seems to have a predeliction towards Lawful characters winning the day. Regardless, another great post, and I look forward to reading more. This is truly high quality work.

Looking to make Egypt-like fantasy world

Al-Quadim, perhaps. I know a topic exactly like this was posted a while back. I suggest using the search function to find it. It was filled with information.

    [Iconic] Regdar For President!

Yes, Regdar for President. Who better to run the country. Surely not any of the other iconics. Except Lidda, of course. But we hear she has no aspirations. So, who are you going to vote for? Lets review: Devis: The character issues are too great. Rumors abound that aboard the SS...

Slavery [My player's stay out !]

I would say most Human civilizations have been evil, yes. As for "acceptable realistic settings", define realistic. If you mean a model of medieval society in our own world, yes, that is very hard (if not impossible) from a D&D standpoint. And that is not majorly because of the alignment...

Kysthiwendor Lyyidelarnikoist Versus Lotus (Ariel Judging)

Kysthiwendor Lyyidelarnikoist half closed her eyes as she began the motions of her next move, her body swaying softly in the gentle breeze of the east wind, the raft sliding quickly into a channel leading through a grand city. Kysthiwendor smoothly extended both arms to her sides, still swaying...

Slavery [My player's stay out !]

Actually, yes, Rome was evil, by D&D standards. They practiced slavery, were rife with political corruption and murder at the higher levels of government, and generally completely uncaring of those who were not granted the status of a Roman Citizen. An archetypal LE society, really. The "we...
